    Default Hair Relaxers/Straighteners

I want to get my hair straightened, but I donno if it will give me the results I am hoping for. The place I am going has some kind of straightener called a japanese something or other, but its 500$. Too expensive for me! Anyway, has anyone ever had a relaxer in their hair? Mine is naturally a little wavy, and kind of frizzy, and I just want it to be straight..

Hmmm not sure about that. Or really hair straightners. But, i do have a gf who has frizzy hair, i mean frizzy hair all her life. She bought a hair straightner that also throws out a mist while she is going down the hair, and she uses this creme she applies first as well. Her hair is beautiful!

She said don't ever use a metal one. She has been doing this to her hair for 3 months everyday, said she is addicted.

All i know is her hair is transformed after she uses it. What a difference, and this creme is supposed to protect the hair along with the wet heat.

Maybe other ladies will know of such a product.

I definitely need something! I hate doing my own hair. I have to blowdry it straight, if I just let it dry normally, it never goes completely straight even with my iron. It sucks. Im open to suggestions though

    hey girl,
I paid 1k for my ionic straighting thing about a year ago, and it worked and was a bit damaging..

also, it left my hair limp, and i could never ever curl it again or have any kind of volume...

i will never do it again!

I just got the new Rusk ceramic straightener and honestly my hair actually feels more healthy! now when i just blow dry it, it's much straighter and calm then before when I was using a metal flat iron. It's worth the money to buy a nice straightener.

hmm.. i used to get relaxers all the time but it really fried my ends, and made my hair limp. So now i just use a cermaic straightner and Pantene Relaxed & Natural Daily Cream Moisturizer.. it works great!! what kind of hair do you have? mine is really kinky and thick (i'm mixed!) ..so maybe it wouldn't work the same for you, but worth a try! a straightner + Moisturizer works wonders for me.

Gee, my hair type? lol..well, I am irish/dutch/mostly native american, but my stylist said I have "fine hair but lots of it" so I am almost always getting it thinned to try and make it easier to style. I have serious curl around the top of my head, framing my face, and that part is hardest to straighten. Its coarse feeling to me, and wavy. It just takes so damn long for me to do anything with it! I just need it straight, heh!

I used to do relaxers in my hair for several years. Everytime no matter how nice I was to my hair it always fell out. 5 years of straightning to my hair it was broken in places..missing in some..short in others. It sucked I felt so ulgy. Now, I havent done it for over 2 years and my hair is back to normal. My hair used to be very curly but not nappy just annoying and now its thin and pretty curly but easier to manage when I straighten it. My advice is to ask her what kind shes using on you the ones with no Lye are sometimes the best they are the least damaging.

Heres a link to a great website I found about it: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip086.htm

Make sure for at home you have a great deep conditioner those are lifesavers. After you get it dont go back every 2 weeks to a month to get a deep condition (most of the time its only 10-20 bucks but well worth it). Goo Luck and condition the hell outta it!!

Hey you; from what I read about the Japanese Straight Perms they are good for caucasion hair, but they leave your hair really straight - like dead, lifeless, flat, straight. Not a terribly stylish look right now. What kind of iron do you use? Is there a possibility that a better/different iron might work better? You're not using one of those Conair things, are you?

The Japenese Technique is called CHI straightning or SHI something like that...I would highly reccommend a ceramic hair straightner over chemicals.I think the one that Pam's friend has is the same one that I use its called The Maxiglide. but buy it from home shopping site for less (half the price!)Watch the video on the shop at home site,The steam really adds softness and very noticable shine to your hair, you'll be amazed.Hairstylists best friend!!LOL!,Also,The beyond straight works well with the iron and the silicone.,I think they advertise hsn on their main site,If not go to .It is the best of ceramic straightners,IMHO....It has a button to release staem and really works well,BTW it doesn't wet the hair or make it wavy from the steam,in fact, It does the opposite! My clients who's hair I straighten,Love the results.Even the frizziest of hair looks sleek with this tool!It was desighned my a man who is a scientist and designed the hair straightener to get great results!Good Luck!
