Around here, from what I've heard/seen/heard from dancers, I've gathered that the topless club makes money and can rival the nude club here because there is ALOT more contact. *shrugs* That seems to be the only reason.
I was tlaking more of the bikini clubs or full bottom clubs that are in Florida. Virginia has some odd rules that range from club to club, i.e. high contact and topless, totally nude and no lap dancing, etc.

In Clearwater the clubs there are basicaly bikini clubs but they are contact -- guys will always pay to touch and be touched.
The clubs themselves make the majority of the money from alcohol sales.

They make money from house fees and door charges as well and the bikini clubs in clearwater do well. They did even better years ago when they first oppened as there really wasnt any other option. They were also alot milder in the contact department then. I strted at a bikini bar years ago that was owned by the gentlemen who owns thee doll house and it was a nice club with good clientele and there was plenty of money to be made.
Here it's because the guys can get more contact.
I don't think that nude or otherwise has anything to do with whether a club and its dancers make money, it's how well the place is run that counts. And that means doing things to attract and please customers. And there are lots of ways to do that which have nothing to do with what the girls wear. Personally I think it's easier for a low end club to make $$$ because with their low overhead they don't have to charge very much and that alone attracts customers. High end clubs have to take a big cut from the dancers in order to help cover their overhead and that means that they have to charge a lot, so they have to work much harder to attract customers. In my opinion too many clubs have gone high end and there aren't enough high end customers to go around. Which is why so many of us complain about business not being very good.
Friends Of Naked Dancing Ladies (FONDL)

I don't know about Florida but In some locations nightclubs classified as "adult" or "sexually oriented" have to have a permit (whether they sell alcohol or not) which usually has an annoying list of conditions regarding zoning, hours of operation, degree of nudity, degree of contact, distance from customers) that must be met.
If that club's dancers are "fully covered" then that club may not technically meet the local standard for being an adult/SO business. This way they don't need the permit and can get around those restrictive conditions. These clubs are almost always full alcohol, and has been stated can offer a higher degree of contact than their nude or topless counterparts.
Former SCJ now in rehab.

Well said FONDL. You hit the nail on the head!

sometimes that's all the area has to offer, so really the guys have no choice.
