    Default Classical dance training?

Hello, I'm Twister and i'm a prospective dancer. I have manny manny years of classical ballet training as well as jazz. I was wondering if there was anyone who has training like this, who could tell me if it's usefull or not, or relate things to it. I was also thinking of gimmick stuff...anyone seen GYPSY? "do it with finess"
Also I was wondering if I'm getting in over my head; I'm planning on going to university and this (hopefully) wouldn't be my only job opportunity. I also want to know what it takes to get on big stages, in ritzy places. Any advice?

Most dancers that I have seen with classical training that move to stripping throw all the training out the window. Other than posture and stage presence, ballett, jazz, tap and the like are difficult, if not impossible, skills to apply to stripping.

    VERY USEFUL !

I too was a ballet dancer- yeah that's me in the avatar -- I found that many customers responded to my stage shows because they tended to be more polished and creative. I worked almost exclusivily at upscale clubs and did in house features at one almost weekly. I have even done a number in pointe shoes and it was well recieved. Ballet trining just naturally makes an exotic dancer stand out- and being different always makes a girl more money.

Having classical training will help getting hired in upscale clubs because you naturaly carry yourself a bit more gracefuly and it reads quite well to management.

In this business use all your skills and having real dance training is one the best skills a stage dancer can have.

Break a leg Twister and here's hoping you get to pad that bank account !

    hi twister

I also have years of training as a dancer ( a little bit of classical and a lot of Jazz as well as ballroom) when it comes to exotic dancing it certainly helps because your moves are automatically gracious and diverse and you are more interesting on stage than most dancers, it gives you a style, an edge, a charisma and the cool part is that you can create different choregraphies wearing different costumes...
BUUUUT, you have to make sure the club you choose to work at is comfortable with this. Some clubs just want you to dance like a regular stripper, no artistic stuff but other club find it attractive because if your show is nice, ( it definitely has to be classy, sensual, sexy but never broadway like...) it gives them an edge and it widens their clientele. Customers love it because it's different and it gives them the impression that they are in a Cabaret but...don't forget that the money making happens on the floor and not on stage, the stage is only a presentation of yourself but definitly not a
the place where you'll be working your shift. That's why I don't bother putting on a show anymore like several years ago when I started dancing because it's a lot creative effort and at the end you don't make more money then if you would just dance like a regular stripper. Because it's aaalll about working the floor, smiling, shaking your ass, your tits, have great energy and be able to read the customers mind to become the girl they wants to spend their time with and their money on for the night.

But you should definitely try it still, I had a lot of fun doing it It'll give you motivation and energy and it's good cause God knows you need it when you start stripping. Good luck !

    hope I helped a little

    hey again twister !

Okay, so if you want to dance en pointe, here is an idea of a show that I used to do, it's really easy cool and sexy: the way you'll dance is by moving slowly and sensually, think of snake, no needs to do to many complex moves, while moving en pointe on the dancefloor try to make it look like you are floatting, be fluid, pose, be sexy, always think of yourself as the sexiest ballerina on the planet...no fast move...:

Clothing: You must wear red ( red long dress with a slit and red ballet shoes, trust me ....I know what I am talking about !)

Music: RnB or Rock nothing too classical or slow, the music has to have a good beat to give you character and keep the atmosphere upbeat, are you getting the picture ? : A sexy ballerina dressed in a killing long red gown with an open back ( if possible), moving slowly, posing, sliding on the dancefloor on the tip of her red ballet shoesn and I insist on the fact it has to be on music with great beat....Remember not to move fast eventhough the beat is fast ( except for your slow song of course !) If you do everything properly You're gonna be a staaar on your first night ! It's soooo sexy, so fascinating to watch ! I killed every time I did that show, I even inspired some girls in the club to take ballet lessons believe or not !

Ask me anything you want I' ll be glad to help !

    Sounds cool Amalita !!!!!
Nice to see another stage hog around the boards

My number was done in black pointe shoes fishnets and black lingerie- I used a pair of sissors and cut my costume off. I did alot of flexablity moves and slinky slides into splits and floor work on top of a large plexi glass box/cube and used stage smoke and a slow strobe and red lights so it really did look like I was floating- 3 feet off the stage !

We used a slow techno song mixed with some Enigma. And damnnnnnnn was it fun to do ! This club had a handful of trained dancers and my manager was a painter himself so he was artistcaly inclined and older too so he had varied taste--- He practicaly required any of girls who were good on stage to do in house features. He came up with alot of good ideas for us too
