Default Getting out of house fees/ tip outs

Just got off the phone with a friend who dances with me. Topic came up because house goes up when you are late, and she is only working for 2 hours tonight. So its true some of us need to work, but can't get there on the start of the shift, maybe even have to pay more to get out early (which I have to do). Turns out my friend has been able to get out of her house fee's and tip outs numerous times by talking to the manager. Hey I could save a good $100 a day by not paying tip outs. Especially since most of the time I don't go to work if I can't make it by 7, because I don't want to worry about paying house and tip outs on time. Anyone do this? I might start asking for a break now and then, especially on nights when I can't start on time or have to leave early.

Personally, I don't like to ask for too many favors from managers and people like that. But then, I'm more or less a rule-follower.

I'd say "don't push your luck." My old club was known to let a dancer slip by on house-fees if she was down on her luck - but there I would be wary of crying wolf.

When I worked at the GGC, I explained to them in the beginning that I had a daughter, and that hubby was military, and there are some nights when he gets off that I will be late, because shit, hes military, there is no way he can get off early. They said it was fine in the beginning, but then they started fining me. I called bullshit and reminded them that they said it was fine, so why were they doing this now, yadda yadda. THEIR excuse was that their other girls cant do that, so now I cant either?? WTF, when you hired me you said it would be fine if I was 30 minutes late SOME nights (maybe 2 out of the week), then they renig on it. I said fuck that, Im not working for you pigs anymore. It is ridiculous these days.

If you start asking, then other girls are going to start asking, then you've ruined it for you friend.

My club tends to be semi-lenient. First of all we don't have to be in til 9 for night shift. If we come after that it's an extra $10, but we are supposed to be ready to go before 9:30...by the time girls stop straggling in it is usually some where around 10. I've always been told that if it's school related then it's fine if I'm late or whatever. Other girls say that they're pretty flexible if it comes down to something to do with school of some sort interferring with scheduals.

I guess my mgr is pretty cool, when I was hired I told them straight up "i'm in this town to go to school, not to work, so school will be my priority" . The mgr was a recent grad (last may) and said he totally agress and school comes first for anyone.

This SAME thing happened to me the first club I worked at. And it wasn't even for night shift-it was for the slow ass day shift that hardly ever had more than six dancers on it to begin with.

Sometimes on bad days they would let some of us off w/out paying our full house fee (very rarely, though) but you had to make it up later. There was even one girl who was constantly BORROWING money from the manager of the club to pay her rent and all that junk (bad idea IMO). At any rate, when they allow you these "favors" they...start thinking you owe them, whether it be monetarily (did I spell that right?) or otherwise. Even if they let you do it for a while it just spells trouble.

I agree. I pay my manager/dj very well because there have been times when I wasn't able to (not didn't WANT to) and they took great care of me. I have seen other girls not get such good treatment because they are ALWAYS trying to get out of paying or trying to leave early because it is slow.

I'd save your favors for when you really need it, just in case.
