Default You Were A Little Girl In The 70s If...

YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70'S IF...

You wore a rainbow shirt that was half-sleeves, and the rainbow went up one sleeve, across your chest, and down the other.

You made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven and washed them down with snow cones from your Snoopy Snow Cone Machine.

You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked.

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket.

You even owned roller skates with metal wheels or the ones that looked like tennis shoes.

You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (Admit it!)

You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.

You had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days -remember Moon boots (you then advanced to Duck Shoes in the 80's)

You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the Dorothy Hamill" because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. How traumatic when people thought you were a boy.

Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.

You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.

You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple shredded outfits.

You spent hours out back on your metal swing set with the trapeze.

You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color.

You even had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle)

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!

You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink.

Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket.

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends,Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school.

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.

Every now and then "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the movie,"Annie"
will pop into your brain and you can't stop singing it the whole day.

YOU had Star Wars action figures, too.

It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!

You even asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry.Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?"

You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums.

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and popsicle-stick God's eyes, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.

    You made Shrinky-Dinks!

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.

You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club.

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from
Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's Me,Margaret.)

You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about
    aerobics.

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.

You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.

You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin.

You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.

You know the words to every song on Schoolhouse Rocks.
You wanted to be just like a Charlies' Angel when you grew up.
You owned the original Barbie Townhouse with the elevator that really went up and down.

Yeah, unfortunately, I remember all of these and more.. LOL

LOL.. There are 3 girls in my family, including myself, and we all had hair all the way down to the backs of our knees. When the whole Dorothy Hammell style came out, our father went and got all our hair cut just like it. My mother was PISSED! LOL

Unfortunately, I missed the reunion I saw something about it on Extra, I think. But what channel was it on? We're stuck without cable until we move, so if it's not on Network, I won't see it I would've loved it though. I had a major crush on Potsie. Woobaby!

I'd still like to whip Nellie Olson's ass.

In the '60s, those little bikes with the high handlebars and banana seats were called "sting rays."

I saved and saved and then bought one, and then it got stolen. Sometimes, we learn young.

I totallly remember the snoopy snow cone machine. All of that I remember a little too well. As far as I am concerned, I am a solid gold dancer.

Wow! Thanks Rhi for the trip down memory lane. You mentioned a bunch that I've never seen on any other list. Like the ribbon barrettes and the gods eye craft stuff. That was soooo funny. I too got the Dorthy Hammill cut in fourth grade. My mom still makes jokes about that years school picture!

You mentioned the first kiss at a roller rink...well, my first love was met at a roller rink and we eventually after much back and forth got married! We are now divorced but everyone always loved the story of how we originally met.

And you still gotta love Judy Blume!

Rhiannon it was on like abc or something. The mom looks exactly the same. Potsie pretty much does too. I remember I always had to go to bed when it was over hated that. It will probanly be on again. Just like the dallas reunion, that was on twice. Did you catch that one?

Hell yeah! As a matter of fact, I STILL have my Ramona books! I had the whole series and read them cover-to-cover back then. LOL
I remember going to the roller rink every weekend and scoping out the hot guys. (Riverdale!) I never got a serious boyfriend there, but I did have a couple of "Let's go out" deals, where we'd basically just meet up every weekend there and skate together.. LOL

Dammit.. It was on ABC? Crap.. I think I actually went to bed early. Yep, that's right everyone.. Rhi is trying to get on a night time schedule. Probably won't work, but I'll make a valiant effort. Hubby's working daytime now, so I don't have much time to play at night. I'm up with the Munchkin all day, so I have to be awake and alert when it's light out. Eeek.. It's not so bad, except for the blinding Sunlight and the burning skin. Hopefully they'll show it again though, and I'll catch it.

I did have a Muppets lunchbox, but my most prized one was my Bee Gees! I soooo wanted to marry Andy Gibb. He was part of the reason why I wanted to be on Solid Gold.. LOL.. Then, I was incredibly sad when he took his own life. Damn you, Marie Osmond!

What about The "Chrissy Doll"? You could pull her hair out long! And she had a cousin..Umm Blonde i think, can't remember her name.

Lol yes the Bananna seats on bikes, and if a friend sat on the back who was a little heay (lol) and you hit a bump the front end would do a wheely!!!! I usualy lost the chain and lost the damn brakes. Or got my pants stuck in the friggin chain...lmao!!!!

I had a chrissy doll pamella. It was my favorite and remember baby that a way. The thing didnt work so we had to return it. By the way, I saw a documentary on the gibbs and andy did not kill himself. He had something simillar to what morris had that killed him. I had heard so many stories over the years about that. That it was suicide, overdose ect. My dad always thought he killed himself over victoria principle but supposedly he didnt commit suicide.

Yeah, I've heard a ton of different stories through the years about Andy's cause of death. I doubt we'll ever know the real cause, but I do know that his cocaine addiction did bring on the Inflammatory Heart Virus that he died of.

Sad though, he was the only hot BeeGee. RIP Andy

Ramona! There's a blast from the past. I basically learned to read from Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume, Encyclopedia Brown, "Choose Your Own Adventure", and the newspaper

Judy Blume had stuff for the guys too...Then Again Maybe I Won't was the first book I ever read that talked about masturbation/"nocturnal emissions". I must've been 9 or 10 when I read that.

When I was in my teens I became hot for Remington Steele.......

You wore a Rainbow Shirt with Unicorn/Pegasaus on it.

Your brother wore a 280Z shirt and had Kiss Cards.

You knew the Lyrics of the movie Grease by heart and wouldn't not stop singing them or playing the album long enough to give your brother a break.

You had a Jamie Summers Action Figure, a Cher Doll, Charlie Angels Action Figure, Farah Fawcett Doll, and Farah Fawcett make up head to play with--and all of them visited Barbie's House for a tea party once...

I remember my parents gave me that for my birthday! It looked pretty creepy so I turned around and shave the head bald and put disturbing war paint on her face only to get the same damn thing again for Christmas that year! I treated the second one the exact same way I did the first till finally my parents learn to sratch that item from the gift list.
