    Default New nipple piercings

I've had my right nipple pierced for about 9 months now, and it's pretty much as healed up as it can get. I just got my left one pierced Tuesday. For those of you who have pierced nipples, how long did you wait before you changed the ring out? The first one I had to change pretty soon afterwards last time because I got hit in the chest with a softball and it broke the ring. So, supposing and hoping this piercing stays short-hop free, how long should I wait before changing the ring? It's still a little sore, but not too bad.

I changed mine after a month. i got it done in Canada when i was 16. They pierced me with a 12 guage ouch!!! then when i went looking for a new one the guy at the tattoo place in US said i should never have gotten a 12 gauge in my nipple so changed it right away. So as long as it doesnt hurt and you sterilize your new ring and dont leave it out i think you should be fine. KAREN

12 Gauge *shudder*. I almost broke my friends arm just wincing from the 14 gauge. But I'm a big wuss anyways.

A 12 or a 14 is fine. People get their nipples pierced with 8's. I see it all the time. 14 is standard, but lots of people prefer bigger. I myself got pierced at 14 but decided to guage them up to a 12. They looked better on me and fit more comfortably. Going too small is what you actually need to worry about. If you go to small it acts like a wire, and can slowly cut its way out. Or even worse, rip out.

I think my piercer told me that I could change mine after 2 months, but I never did because I'm very happy with my barbells.
