    Tell me..

Here is a situation I had to deal with a couple of years ago when I danced at a club in Alaska..There was a girl there who started out as a waitress, she was kinda cute, nice girl, ect. She was also married and had a little boy. She decided one day that she would make more money as a dancer, and everyone agreed..so she started out, made some money, and then one day, everyone found out that within like a week, she slept with 2 of our 4 dj's, and got herpes from one of them. Now, I had been at this club for a while, and the housemom and I, being pretty close friends, decided that it wouldnt be wise for her to work under her herpes condition, because if something happened, it would be possible for her to pass them along to a customer (she did this move of putting the guys head between her legs and straddling it, dry humping his face, eck). So the whole club was washed down with clorox and goodness knows what else. So THEN, I said ya know, Im really not into working here if the mgr lets this girl stay. So for like a week she was working there and so was I, they just scheduled her around me so our paths wouldnt cross. Well needless to say I quit for a while, but had to go back because we needed the $. My question to you guys is..do you think it is ok for someone who has an std they would be able to pass to work in a club? Would any of you girls work there if they did?

Okay - I'm not sure what the exact number is, but a fairly large percentage of the population has genital herpes. So it's a good bet that most, if not all, of us are working in a club with a dancer who has it. The difference with your situation is that you actually know about it, and know who it is. That doesn't mean that they have an active, transmissible infection all the time - I think most people only have outbreaks a few times a year and it is around those times that they are likeliest to be able to infect other people. You would hope they would not work at those times, but of course some probably do anyway.

As to whether or not it could be passed on to customers or other dancers, there have been threads about this in the past and I believe the general consensus was that it might be possible under certain conditions, but probably isn't likely. If she is doing stuff like dry humping guy's faces, that might up the risk a bit.

Personally, if I knew that the girl had herpes and felt that the activities going on in the club made it more likely to be exposed to it (like if she did a lot of straddling the pole and such), I probably would try to find another club. But the thing is, you usually have no way of knowing if your coworkers have an STD - it's not like they test girls before they hire them. So I think it's probably best to just assume you work with somebody who does and act accordingly. Such as not working at nude bump and grind clubs, being sure not to get your face or crotch near a pole that other girls have been swinging on or wiping it down with disinfectant before using it, that sort of thing. Better safe than sorry.

I always wiped the pole down with lysol before I got on it..but even so, I would have thought a little more care would have been taken than just letting her do as she pleases, such as her dry humping a guy's face. For some reason the mgr acted as though I was in the wrong, but cmon, he let this girl do as she pleased.

That’s really scary and touchy stuff. Of course ideally I would say STAY OUT! But that may be discrimination.

I think Herpes is ALLOT worse though, there’s NO cure.. I’m not sure how contagious it is but “YUK” to working on the same POLE etc.. I think these girls shouldn’t be allowed to dance, sorry to anyone who may have anything but.. It really is putting everyone else at risk.

So to answer your question, NO I would not work with her.. but hey, I’m sure were I work someone has something and I don’t know about it.

This brings me back to a post I made yesterday regarding the ***importance of healthcare regulations*** in OUR work place. (bottom post)

Well, if I worked with a girl two years ago on the other side of the country who had herpes, I'd have forgotten about it by now.

Something like two thirds of the world has genital herpes. It dies when it's exposed to the air. If your not touching anything you shouldn't be touching, you ain't gonna get it.

It is something that would definitely gross me out. There's no reason why she should've been able to dry hump guys heads in her situation. YUCKO! Like Lena said though, it dies when air hits it and doesn't have a host. Kind of like ringworm. I'm sure if you made the right precautions by cleaning the pole, it'd be fine.

    I agree with Lena.
And I know of several girls that I worked with who had herpes. If you really cannot toleratre that then switch clubs but again like lena said the virus dies when it exposed to air.
I personaly think it's really terrible to discriminate against someone because they have herpes(or any other std for that matter).

I think if her situation would have been different, then I wouldnt have been so harsh about her situation, but she slept with two guys, our dj's no less, within a week. I was just curious as to what other people thought about things like this, no need to jump my case about it though.

And I dont think I am discriminating against the people who have std's..I know some can't help it, some are children, ect ect. BUT the way some people go about doing things that leads to them contracting it, thats where I think they obviously don't use their brains.

she shouldn't be dry humping at all...thats a lil much but her knowing her situation ...she sould be taking more safety precautions befor she catches something else.....as for you i would just say stay clear of her path...and if management knows then there is nothing you can do if they choose to let her stay....

No SC would ever fire a girl because she had an STD. Not unless she was working in a nude club, had a major outbreak of genital warts and her twat was looking like Halloween or something. To many managers, we're just bodies making them money. Besides it's pretty hard to catch an STD from someone without actually touching that area yourself. Just keep your hands clean, wipe down the pole (not even just after girls who you know have an STD but even after the ones you doubt do...better safe than sorry) and PLEASE don't touch your pussy, on stage or off. That's one of my big pet peeves...when girls sit there rubbing inside their pussies then reach up and grab the pole. Yuck.....

GUH naomi I agree..I never have been one to feel myself up on stage, be it boobs or pussy, it just isnt me. And having your hands on $ practically all night, then doing that? Wonder how many germs you have there now!

Im sorry RD I did not mean to come off harsh
I totally agree that she should not have been sticking guys heads between her legs and sleeping with the DJ's ect....Maybe she had some emotional issues that made her feel like she needed the attention.
Eiether way I do feel kind of sorry for her not only did she catch an std from the dj but then the whole club found out!
If I were her I would have been a little more on the downlow after that incident.
But I gues some people just don't care.

She was married! Now that's messed up. The fact that she probaly gave her husband herpes because she cheated on him is even more messed up. I can't believe someone would put thier husband's health in danger like that.

Yea, she was married. I guess I forgot to add that fact in on the first post. She had a small child also. She just had issues. I didnt care for her too much. And her husband, the poor guy, he would still come to the club and be around her.

I would just lace the toilet and do the lysol thing, sit on a towel in dressing room and of course just mind my own business. Its sounds like she has some problems.I wouldnt humiliate her by telling anyone eithor or gossip and worry who she is sleeping with. How do u even know she has herpes for sure?

I feel the same way. You are also judgeing off "here say." Who knows her side of the story.

Two years later and it still bothers you enough to bring it up?

I don't mean to sound mean.. but here is a different perspective.

As I stated before, it doesn't bother me, I just wanted to bring it up to hear what other girls thought of the situation. Obviously some people work with other girls who have std's, but their situations were different. And she is the one who told everyone she had herpes btw.

I find it really hard to beleive she went telling everyone she had herpes.I just picture it as a big jealousy issue and rumors got started in dressing room.I never trust any dancers that sit and gossip with the house moms. And you say didnt care, you must of to have told management to keep her away from you.I really dont care but know how gossip goes.

Once more..I did tell mgt to keep her away from me, because of course I didnt want anything to do with her. As for who she told, she told both the dj's she slept with (I have no clue who out of those two had it), the housemom, and the 3 managers, and then it just circulated from there. That's why in the first place they washed the club down really well, then changed their mind a while later because she was an extra body and they could make $ off of her, so they let her stay. As for the housemom, she and I were good friends, and she told me one day when she was over about the situation. The only people I talked to about it were the mgt, because at that time I was concerned for my own safety and health.

First of all, didn't the first post say that she got it from one of the DJs?? And how was this information confirmed? Did someone else get it from him, too? This gal may have been in the wrong in several ways, but she was surely not the only party at fault, no. In addition, contracting an STD is shameful enough, let alone having some disrespectful loud mouth broadcasting the information to anyone who will listen to this type of spewing at the mouth. The most important thing is to be educated. That way, you won't sound like an idiot and you can also help spread the facts, rather than propaganda which may be just to hurt someone else. You may have been able to help this girl learn more about her condition, who knows?

    Some good resources, and
