    Default Stretch Marks

    Hi Girls,

Just about to get back into dancing. The body is looking much better than it did 3 months ago because I've been working my ass off! The only thing that I am quite uncomfortable with still at this stage is my stretch marks. They are nasty things - and unfortunately due to weight going up and down they appear in a few spots over my body. It sucks! And I haven't even had kids yet! Dread to think about that! Maybe its in the genes? It is mainly around my waist, the top of my legs and the top of my butt on both sides. Also a couple of small ones on my boobs but nothing major. They are quite light but I still feel uncomfortable with them and wanted to ask if any of you know the best way to cover them up? Any good make up tips?

I have contacted cosmetic surgeons about laser treatment but unfortunately there's really no way to actually get RID of them, just to make them lighter and mine are already light so can't go too much more. Also the laser is exxy and not guaranteed, AND will take about 6 treatments when I don't really have that much time. I am mainly worried about it more onstage, and I don't suppose the DJ will be too happy to change the lighting!

I know I will feel a lot more confident if they are less prominent...so girls - any tips are greatly appreciated. There must be other girls out there who have to do the same thing?

    Thanks

    HOLLYOZ

I find sun beds help a lot, the darker you are the less noticeable the stretch marks are. Also I know wheatgerm oil is good for preventing ie when pregnant but maybe it could also help them once you already have them
    good luck!

Good luck getting RID of them hun, you should just except them as a part of you. I've tried every "product. Nothing helped, it was just a waste of $ but all skin types are different so it might work for you.

The only way (I know of) is to have surgery.. they CUT all that skin away and make you a new belly button . That option was too extreme for me.

BTW.. You can't see mine on stage and I've never been rejected over my stretch marks. In a new club, I tell the DJ and they have always gladly adjusted the lighting for my last song.

Thank you girls, that is great advice.

Yea - Very hard to accept them when every time I look down at the top of my legs all I see is lumps and bumps. Mind you, I am quite cellulite free aside from just a little bit here and there. I know what you are saying about accepting them but sometimes I just feel a bit like a deflated baloon! I know I can't actually get rid of them at this stage. Perhaps the procedure you are talking about is only available in the U.S? Have not heard or read about it in Australia.

Miss Courtney and Farrah - I am in the process of tanning up as it is still quite hot here in Oz where I am from. Although I will probably lose my tan as soon as I get to the U.K! As for make up, I am trying out a few products like different foundations that are more heavy duty and last longer but I always just have problems with the application! Yesterday it ended up looking like I had smeared mud on my ass! I think maybe I need to get the right colour sorted and then just practice? What do you reckon? Perhaps you know of a particular body make up that is on the market?

Sparkell - What on earth are tonalin pills?!!! I heard that vitamin E creams are good for prevention but as for special creams specifically for stretchmarks I don't know where to look? I asked a cosmetic doctor in a consultation about this and he believed they only help about 5-10%... but then again, different people, different skin, different results!

So glad I found this site, I will look into your suggestions. Keep em coming!

You know, I think they have a laser procedure now to help with those. It might be worth looking into if they bother you a lot and you're not averse to a little surgery.

I "developed" rather quickly, but luckily had a (female) doctor who told me to use cocoa butter when I hit puberty. How cool was that? I still have some, but they aren't terribly noticeable.

Also, almost every girl you see, no matter how hot, is likely to have a few. Natural consequence of growing up or weight gain and loss.

    Hollyoz,
I advised to except them because I hated mine for years and it only made me feel bad, mean while I spent allot of money on the search for a cure. Also keep in mind, depending how fresh they are.. they will fade.
Be careful with laser! A friend of mine did it and her marks are worse now (she's very pale) now their red! I think any good doctor would warn of this and do a “test area first.

SPARKELL: What’s up with Tonalin? Isn’t that for weight loss.. how does it help stretch marks?

In regards to new stretch marks I strongly reccommend Mederma. I just had a baby on January 19 and I noticed these two large patches of rough red skin with lines in them (stretch marks) on my ass, I freaked out for a bit then I started using the Mederma on them and the skin just kind of sloughed off, they're almost completely invisible and it hasn't even been a month...even when I was freaking out my mother showed me her stretch marks and you can't even see them, no one is going to be able to see them at work.

I strongly suggest checking out the link I provided. I have used the products in the past w/ excellent results. Even if you opt not to use their line the website still has a wealth of information on fading and reducing stretchmarks with supplements. I found out about Tonalin and some of the other supplements I have shared with the board from them.

You're welcome ...Dermablend makes a very good body cover up that will stay on while you're dancing. Prescriptives has a great body shimmer that also helps to conceal any areas of concern. Both have websites too.

I am looking for a product to just even out my skin where my stretch marks are. I just want it to be more smooth. Everyone tells me to use cocoa butter, but I have been wondering if mederma would help...........?

Also, Ive been smearing vitamin E on my bum for about 3 months and I just started tanning and my stretch marks from growing (the white ones) arent that visible. Also, Im hoping that the lights will also help hide them.

FYI: Im black, white and filipino with yellow undertone skin.
