A while back there was a posting about sending funds to help a Pakistani woman who was sentenced to be raped because her brother walked with a girl of another tribe.
This was published in the New York Times and circulated around the internet.
I recieved a letter from the Times in December telling me how things are going for her. In short:
- They raised about $130,000 in donations
- The school she started in her village is still running
- She is thinking of starting a hospital of some sort as there are not many around!
- A web site is available at
Mercy Corps is handling donations to her cause:
Checks should be made payable to "Mercy Corps" and in the for line put "Mukhtaran Bibi".
