    Default Embarassing

I know I just posted another thread just a little while ago, but this is one thing that has quite an impact on my life, and I wonder if it would interfere with my table dancing if I were to start.
I have something called "hyperhydrosis", it runs in the family. Basically it makes you sweat, a lot. Some people get it on their faces, I get it mainly on my hands and feet. They are constantly sweating, and I've learnt to live with it, but it frustrates me because it often limits what I can do. I can imaging it would make pole dancing that much harder for me, and I'm worried that maybe a customer will grab my hand and be disgusted and put off because it is drenched in sweat. Its very embarassing for me, but since its a strictly 'no touching' club, I'm hoping I will be ok!!! Please can I have some feedback on your thoughts! As you can imagine, the fact that I live in Spain where its really hot doesn't help. And I don't really know, but I can imagine these clubs to be pretty warm inside as it is!

I had this problem, too. It was so bad that my hands would actually drip sweat--ugh! Then, about 6 years ago, I found a doctor in Los Angeles wo specialized in hyperhidrosis treatment. I opted for the "ETS" surgery, where they cauterize/clip the T2 (I think) nerve. The whole procedure took only 1 hour, and my recovery time was one week--no pain at all! The only drawback is what's called "compensatory sweating," which means that the sweat does come out somewhere, but for me it isn't a big deal. I sweat a little more around the stomach, but from my nipples up, there's no sweat.

My doctor's name is Dr. Rafael Reisfeld, in Beverly Hills. He is very thorough in his approach, very friendly, and understands that it's a medical--not emotional--problem. There are doctors in the U.S. and Sweden, I believe, that also perform this operation, but Dr. Reisfeld was by far the most highly recommended doctor for this problem when I did the research.

I heard that botox injections can also help, but I'd be worried about trying that, and it's not permanent. I've personally tried medications (gave me a horrid case of dry-mouth), hypnosis, and this electrical-current machine that was very time-consuming and ultimately did not work (and gave me a rash on my palms).

So, I'd definitely check out Dr. Reisfeld. His website is http://www.sweatypalms.com

    Good luck to you!

Great job Orenishi. I have Hyperhydrosis as well, in my armpits. Botox injections can clear up the problem, as well as removing the glands. The latter, however, is a pretty serious operation (if done in the armpits and sensitive areas). For starters, try getting some unscented deodorant and put it on your hands and feet. Good luck.

I sweat like a maniac. I towel myself off every 3 minutes. I was thinking about Botox under my arms because it gets very stinky.

As for the pole, I'm very new to this. What has helped is to wipe my hands before each trick and use my thighs and ankles more for grip.

Thanx a ton for all your feedback! I couldnt have imgained that there are so many girls out there who have the same problem as I do, and still manage to make a living out of such a social-oriented job!

I have also tried the Drionic machine, and although it did work for me, it is incredibly time consuming and isnt a permanent solution. It can also be painful (if you try to get it out of the way fast).

I have considered the operation, but i sweat a lot in general. The most embarassing is clearly on my hands and feet, but i also sweat under my armpits, and on my back and legs when it's really hot. I am afraid that CS might just even be worse!!!

It is a huge problem for me, whether I start dancing or not, but I can imagine that in the stripping world it will be a great hindrance to me , which is a pity, because I am really looking forward to it!!!!!!

I went to the club yesterday for the audition. The guy is more than happy to hire me, but when they started teaching me pole tricks it was awful!!!!!!! My hands are way too sweaty to be able to hold onto the pole, and all I do is slide straight down!!

    How depressing...

Hey, some of the sweating has to do with being nervous. Keep trying the pole tricks...in a while you wont be nervous about hanging on to the pole anymore. You might not sweat as much at those times when you are on the pole. Your brain will learn to tell your hands not to sweat at certain times when you are more comfortable.

Also, try drigrip..it might help, but Im not exactly sure how it works. My little brother has what you have, and I can remember when we were little and just sitting there playing video games his feet were dripping, litterally. His hands are still kinda like that, and he was going to have surgery to clear that up, not sure when though.

I've always had sweating issues all over my body, too. I can't tell you whether the compensatory sweating on your legs and back will get worse. However, I can tell you that most of us who had the ETS surgery do NOT sweat from the nipples up--so your armpits should be dry as a desert.

I would seriously recommend contacting Dr. Reisfeld. All he does is treat hyperhidrosis, and would be happy to answer all of your questions. He did tell me he couldn't predict whether the sweating on my feet would stop--it does for some people after ETS. Mine was greatly reduced. Like I said, I used to sweat rivers on my palms, and now my hands are soft and dry.

Please do PM me if you have concerns and questions--I know how you feel, and would love nothing more than to be able to help a fellow hyperhidrosis sufferer find happiness!

Thanx a lot for all your advice. I am seriously considering the operation. The problem is that I live in Spain. I doubt Dr. Reisfeld can help me!!! I'm currently looking for centres in Spain that specialise in this type of treatment. Not as easy as it sounds....

Again, thanx a lot for the advice, you girls are great at giving people the confidence they need! Im currently looking for the right wardrobe + shoes to start dancing, and working on my groundwork (my knees are all bruised! lol)

You could put deodorant on your hands and feet... It also gives a grip...

Either way I am sure that you will be ok. Just do your thing and make money!

In Sheila Kelly's book, the strip factor, she mentions a topical treatment for sweat on the hands.. I can't remember what is called.. I will try and find my book (I still haven't unpacked from moving yet) and will post it when I find the book.... She (sheila) said that it eliminates all sweat so that you can grip the pole better.
