A friend of mine suggested that I try using my "real" name at work but, I don't feel comfortable doing that. Has anyone used their given name at work ?

I used my real name at work for a while. It didnt bother me, and guys never believed it was my real name anyhow....especially considering that my real name sounds more exotic then my stage name.
Guys are going to automatically think it is a stage name anyhow.....I wouldnt worry about it.
I've known a lot of dancers to use their real name. I never used my name because it's sort of on the plain side. So I used "Rose Delight".....One day I looked up this name in the phone directory and someone actually has this name as a 'real name'......Hmm, Different.

I used a variation of my real name before, but never my name exactly. I have like 5 made-up names I can rattle off if the guy doesn't believe me. Better to stay on the safe side......

I used to dance under my middle name, was fine. Customers don't believe whatever you tell them. Unless you have a really unique name and are dancing in a small town, and don't want a "so my coworker was telling me the other day he has a daughter named Shanara, any relation?" type of conversation happening.

I danced under my real name. No biggie.

Well, my stage name is kind of a play on my real name, makes it easier to remember when I get called.

I've always danced under my real name. It's never been a problem for me. And like Toribaltimore said most guys won't beleive it's your real name anyway.
A girl at my club uses her real name. She makes $$ off of guys betting against her that it's her real name.
life is only what you make of it

Thank you all for replying. I never would've guessed so many ladies use their "real" names.

Always my real name, Pamela. When i did my hair real dark and it hung to my thighs, and i got a fake tan..lol, i went by the name Rio. Once (different club, a dancer had my name) i used Pamela Pauline.
It's SO true, guys wont believe you are using you're real name anyway.
Pamela

I use my real name, never had it be a problem. Of course I also always register everything to a mail drop, too, which I would do even with a fake name. Had my work phone billed to my boyfriend's mailbox for some extra distance.
It depends, i wouldn't mind since nobody will know if its your real name, if he doesn't ID check
Mine isn't on the kinky side so I don't take it. In a big town using a somewhat common first name nobody will ever notice. I don't see trouble.
I think a lot of the made up names come because it is funny to chose one's own name, kind of a little role play, that's fine to me whatever one prefers.

I have and always desire to use my real name. Why? Well.. I have no qualms about someone knowing my first name as that is all that they know. Plus the fact that most of the time the punter/patron will argue with me that it isn't my real name and ask me for my real name (to which I have to make up a fake real name).
I also usually respond to such requests along the lines of "I can't tell you my real name as no one here at the club knows me by my real name. They wouldn't know who you are referring to and I respond to my stage name within the club more than my real name anyway" or I just distract them by giving them a stage name and telling them they have to use their new "strip club" name whilst in the club.
Whilst I do prefer to use my real name... I do have a fake "full" name (first name, last name for stripper competitions and so forth) as well as a backup if my real name is taken.
I don't see what the issue is really. You are only using your first name so they can't "hunt" you down based purely on your first name. It takes more information than that.

Ive always used my real name

I've never danced under my real name, but that's because my name is fairly common and I wanted something more unique. There is a bartender at my club with my name, and there is another dancer at my club who dances under my real name. I think some of the customers know my real name because whenever someone calls one of their names, I turn and look out of habit. LOL
I've known several girls who have danced under their real names. It usually isn't a problem. The only way I wouldn't recommend it is if your name is very unusual and you live in a small town, which would make it easier for a psycho customer to track you down.

I've never yet given out my real name. If I ever want to...I'll just think of a fake real name and give that out. My real name will be a last last last last last last resort!!

My real name is such an old ladies name that I make up a "real name" along with my stage name.
I've always danced under my real name and never had any problems. But then again; I'm 6'7 and 245 lbs.![]()
I'va always used my real name too - it seemed pointless to use a fake name when I run into so many people who know me at work anyway. Plus I'm hopeless at coming up with names - my son was 6 days old before he had a name, lol!!!

I always danced under my real name, which is a fairly unusual name. I really wanted to use a stage name, but like aussie, I could never decide on one that really worked for me. Occasionally I tried different names when I went to a new club, but somehow they never stuck. I was always more comfortable with my real name (then again, my family never called me by my full first name, always by a unique family nickname, so it was kind of different in a way...)
I never had any problems with guys tracking me down or anything...and I always told them that it really was my real name, but like everyone else said, they always refused to believe me. I was always careful, though, about keeping customers at arm's length, never giving out my phone number, etc. As a result, I probably didn't have as many regulars as girls who did, but I'd say that's probably the best way to avoid any potential trouble...Just my .02
Funny, but right after I stopped dancing I came up with a name that I thought would really work for me...I almost want to go back just so I can try using it!
I dance under my real name, as well.....it's kinda funny when sc patrons ask the inevitable, "But what's your real name?".......and I tell them my name again(kinda smart ass).

One of the girls at Hollywood (Gold Coast) changed over to her real name because of similiar reasons to above. She couldn't be bothered coming up with fake ones all the time, then having to remember what it was.
As mentioned before, it takes a lot more to get any info, so she was pretty safe, and no one believes her anyway. Even I forget to believe her half the time, and she is a mate.
