Default out of the frying pan

For those who recall, I worked a month at a club that had few customers and decided to try elsewhere. Last Wed. was an amatuer night at the most popular club in my area. Amatuer indeed. There were 7 of us, one of which had danced for 3 months and another for a year. I didn't win.

Thankfully, you didn't need to win to get hired. Only two of us were interested in getting hired. The manager asked if either of us had experience. I said yes and went into his office. He wouldn't even talk to the other girl. He asked me some questions and explained the club. I was hired and started last Friday.

It was hard and I didn't do very well. There was 3 times as many dancers as at my last club. Many of them had fake chests and I felt completely flat chested next to them. My last club didn't involve much hustling so I had no idea how to get dances. I was rejected over and over during the evening. The girls at my last club were nice and friendly. At this one they were mean, outright mean. One said she would "kick my ass" because she though I was someone she knew from highschool and didn't like even though I tried to explain that I wasn't even in the same state as her at the time. Another put her cig out in my drink as she passed by. Very few said anything nice to me and only one offered to answer the questions I had since nothing was explained to me that day.

My next day is this Wed. and I'm very nervous. I feel like I jumped out of a pond and into the middle of the ocean with sharks.

Wow, I have worked in a couple clubs that weren't open to new girls, but the cigarette in the drink is pretty f*cking bad!

Have you considered the possibility that they were jealous? This isn't always the case, sometimes they are just mean because they are miserable human beings, and the club sucks. One club in particular I worked in had a well deserved rep as having the least friendly women in town--as far as working with them, though it was a good club other than this.

But the fact that the manager didn't even want to talk to the other girl tells me that you must be attractive, and this will bring out the hostility in insecure and/or mercenary women faster than anything.

Forget the lack of a boob job, to lots of guys this doesn't matter. From the sounds of it, you were nervous working in a new club, you were getting worse than no help from the other dancers, and this made it very hard to have the confidence it takes to get out there and hustle. I know how important attitude and confidence is, you have to have it to be a good DJ, too.

Regardless, the first night is always the worst. Once you pass that test, they will usually lighten up, and you might also find that there are a few cool dancers to hang with--this can make a big difference in keeping the rest off your back.

If they still treat you like shit after a few nights, and you still aren't getting a good reaction from the customers, hell, just go back to your old club or try yet another one.

I have noticed that some women will do much better at certain clubs than others. My girlfriend, for instance, hates working in the 'factory' type clubs, and does much better in clubs where her conversational skill and considerable charm can be used to full effect. It can take some experimentation and patience to find the best club for each dancer.

I'd say go back and try again, and try to pump yourself up beforehand. If you do meditation or self-hypnosis, do it the night before. Try to steel yourself to the reaction of others. Know deep inside that you are powerful and sexy, and you can blow off the bullshit and get what you want.

Your post brings out something Im a little worried of...I plan on doing my first amateur nite in a month or so and hoping I get hired and Im thinking about the girls that work there, what if theyre nasty like that.... if they laugh at me or treat me like crap? I am so not like that and cant imagine why anyone would treat another like that. They were new once themselves wernt they?

Well since the girls are bitchy and probably jealous of you they are trying to intimadate you. Just stand up tall, work it, and stay out of chill'en in the dressing room. Go there and do your thing. Besides your not there to make friends. As long as they see that you are not afraid of them and you are the to WORK...they will most likely see that they can't break you...and they'll end up leaving you alone. Don't worry yourself. You changed clubs to make more money. So go there and see if this club brings in more money~if not then you move onto the next club.

Last night I tried to focus on just making money and not worrying too much about the other dancers (thanks amber). I definately had confidence issues my first night (thanks Djoser) and I tried to work on that before starting my shift. I ended up making over three times as much as a good night at my old club! Most of the customers were far nicer than the dancers and I actually found it a relief (and yes enjoyed) chatting with them rather than hanging out in the dressing room. I think things are starting to look up.
