Which do you do/prefer? (And I'm talking bikini area here) Which leaves you with the least irritation?

I love the ultra-smooth results from waxing, but hate the regrowth inbetween sessions. I normally use Gilette Sensor razors, which gives me a very close shave. No nics, bumps or irritation. I've also heard Venus rasors are good. I just use my normal body wash, no special shave gel.
One tip, don't buy cheap razors! I've never had razor bumps from shaving until last week. I bought generic blades for my Sensor razor and after 2 uses, it rusted and holy crap, tore my skin apart. I ran out and got some bikini zone which helped to sooth the area, and also picked up brand name replacement blades. I think I will continue using the bikini zone, just to keep things super smooth.
What is bikini zone? I never shaved anything until I started dancing, and I am fed up and frustrated with bumps and burns, which seems to occur regardless of the quality of the razor I use. Can waxing be done adequately at home or should it be professionally doen?
If you want to wax, definitely go to a professional. It can be uncomfortable (ok, painful), but don't be embarrassed, they do it all day long and your's won't be the first or last bare bikini area they see. They can take it all off, leave a "landing strip", or just do the sides, leaving a more natural look. I personally like it totally bare, or just a tiny strip left.
For shaving, use one of the better razer's out there (think Sensor/Venus/etc.). Some women change the blades as often as every time, I switch them out about once every 1-2 weeks. Bumps/burns/cuts usually happen with dull blades, not sharp ones. Bikini zone is a topical gel you use after shaving. It is supposed to cut down with irritation. I found it at Walgreens for around $7. To cut down on irritation, I would also suggest not shaving every day. If you're not working for a few days, perhaps you could skip shaving during those days?
Good luck!
I use sugaring (rips out the hair like waxing) and do it myself. I make it from sugar and lemon juice, with my freakin' sensitive skin the fewer chemicals in anything I put on it the better.

Please dont think Im crazy , but does anyone tweeze there pu. hairs? I work at a top less club and I leave a small landing strip but found that its esier for me to just tweeze instead while looking for any ingrown hairs to get rid of.Its just that I notice I get more irritation this way.
sugar and lemon juice... how does that work?

Oh, man, I can't stand body hair below the neck. I get a full brazilian every few weeks just to keep my stuff clean. I couldn't handle shaving every day.
And to those who would dare try waxing at home - DON'T! There's so much potential for hosing up your skin (i.e., tearing, etc.) if you do it the wrong way. I don't know that I know anyone who has been continually successful with waxing at home. *shudders*
I go to a spa to get mine done (called "A Moment's Peace" oddly enough! lol) And I agree, it can be embarassing initially, esp. when they ask you to help pull your skin taut! LOL! But it's not unlike going to any other pro that works down there - they see tons of 'em every day!

i am an advocate for waxing.
Leaves you soft, smooth, clean and touchable.
I do it at home, I give myself a brazillian. Get a vdceo about waxing and buy a wax melting machine and wax.
I use dry body oil with a scent of lavender in it. smoot it over my skin. The oil help protects the skin from the hot wax. also when you apply the wax do it in a circular motion. This is to assure you are getting all sids of the hair. when the wax is dry enough with the palm of your hand press firmly all around the waxed area.
Then pull the skin taught with one hand and pull the wax off quickly with the other hand.
You can do this to your armpits too.
The first 4 times I would have it professioinally done then you become a bit desensitized and you could easily do it your self.
using dry body oil and applying the wax in a circular motion to get all sides of the hair then palming it firmly is the key.
Not all professionals do it this way. It is a french way and I feel the best way
Use hard body wax and not strip wax. very important
strip wax is best used on the legs.
