    Sad Help!! tanning tips, please!

Hi everyone! I have had the worst luck with tanning. I have been going 3-4 times a week for about a month and a half and I am still pale!! At first I burnt really bad, but after about a week I started back into it and since then I have seen no reults. I can't do the mystic or self tanner b/c (this might sound weird) i have a fungus (that I was born with, but just started showing less than 5 yrs ago) on my back and sometimes on my chest that stands out when i use them. They are little white spots and with the tanner on, it looks terrible!!! Do I need to go in a maximum level bed or change lotions or go for more time?? I have no idea what to do, but I want to get dark!!

If anyone can give me tips or has issues like this please post. Thanks!~

Do they have the "medium pressure" beds where you are? I can never tan at first in the regular ones but in those I can get really dark. Once I have a base tan I can maintain it in the low pressure ones, though. I also seem to need a base tan to get any color in those high pressure beds *shrug*.

Call around, find a med. pressure bed at a place that has the newest bulbs in it and try that. I have to go every other day when I start. For the record I am French, Scandanavian and Native American so I start out VERY pale... ice white and usually burn in the regular sun. My Danish friend who is also very white gets good reults from the medium pressure beds as well.

And for heaven's sake... DON'T BURN

I have been tanning for years, and just in the last year I have developed a tan that I only have to go in the beds once every few weeks to maintain. I started out pale as well, but I have dark skin genes in me so I have the capability of tanning to get dark. Are you very fair skinned? Do you have dark hair, eyes, or genes in your family? If you do then I don't see why you can't tan. If you are burning each time you tan then stop for a while, and continue with shorter minutes and longer intervals in between. Burning will wreck your skin, it's not worth it!! Especially if you are fair skinned. Use bronzers, tanning lotions, and self tanners to help speed up the process and protect your skin from drying out.
If this all doesn't work and you are wasting your money, then try Mystic Tan. It's a little more expensive but it should work on anyone's skin!! Happy Tanning,

Thanks so much for all the posts. I take lamisil and use a cream (whenever i get a chance) on my back. They work fine, but if I get in any kind of fake tanning (spray tan, mystic, or just plain self tanner lotion) it starts to uncover all of the spots and they terribly show. I am Greek, German, and have a little bit of Indian in me. My mom has always been able to tan (b/c she ALWAYS does it) but it just takes me so long. The only time i burnt was my 2nd time going, but I can go for as long as I want now. I am a darker pale now rather than a pasty pale as when I started a month and a half ago (lol~ if that kind of helps). I probably need to do what Veronika said (medium pressure). It sucks that I just can't tan easy! lol

Yep,this is a fungal infection. The best way to get rid of them and keep them at bay is to use distilled white vinegar while showering.Just dampen a loofah with warm water and the vinegar and then apply shower gel or body wash to give it lather.Work it in really well. You will see results in two weeks. If you are going to continue tanning, use this everyday to keep the fungus away.
