The only way I know how to get inexpensive extensions is by A) doing it myself or B) networking. If you know someone who hairdresses and you get to know them, it helps you get major discounts on hairdos.

I'm pretty damn sure this doesn't help at all, but if you try looking on the internet, you might strike gold. Otherwise I hope some of the other SW members can help...

Tiamaria! Thank you for the wonderful links.
I found this from one of your recommended site. I was looking for something like this for a long time.

How is this type of extension compare to permernamt one? Is anyone tried?

It looks so much easier to take care of but I am afraid it might fall on the stage.

    Any feedback will be appreciated.

I have so many hair falls and stuff and I never can seem to get them in my hair that well. Let me know how that work out becuase I haven't tried them yet, just the ones you put your hair in buns and wear over them.

I use the clip-on hair extensions, in the claw clip style. I've never had a problem (except once where I bought the extension without the clip and had to put a weak store clip in- it fell out and I was mortified but most of the guys didn't even notice.) There's also the bananaclip style, but I don't like that one as much.
I got mine off of ebay for 10 including shipping and handling, and it was worth it. But it's really hard to use them if you have highlights because you have to match them.
I have solid color throughout, so it works.

I'm curious about falls and where to buy long ones (my hair is really long and I want something for more volume since my hair is fine and sort of thin.) I heard extensions can be bad for your real hair since they pull on it and then they are cut out- I don't know how bad extensions are for hair through.

Fancygirl, who was the ebay seller on ebay you bought the extensions from? They sound cool and seem like they're worth a try at that price and maybe since they're not in the hair as long as real extensions they're not as harmful.

Those clip extensions in that link (hairpieces.com) are just the rail-type wefts (whatever they are called) sewn onto the pro clips you can buy at most beauty supply stores. In other words, you can make them yourself for signifigantly less. You also could probably find better hair then is offered there.

The combs are sort of like an industrial strength version of those metal barretts that clicked into place at a curve following your head so any damage would be comparable to that. I bought mine at Sally Beauty Supply .

I wore braided extensions for almost a year while growing my hair out from a super short cut to a manageable length, and I was really happy with the condition of my hair. Breakage was minimal, and my hair was super healthy as it wasn't subjected to blow drying/heat styling. The first couple times I had it done professionally, but after that I did them myself, the only downside was the amount of time it took me (16-18 hours of braiding...yuck!). I think the key is not to leave them in too long, I would change them usually every 4 weeks, as soon as the hair started to get ratty looking.

I also used the Wal-Mart hair vitamins and I was so pleased with how quickly my hair grew out!

    hey girl-
sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was on vacation. Regarding where to buy falls on Ebay, I just looked under wigs and extensions and then narrowed my search by length and hair color, as well as type ( I prefer fake hair to real human hair.) Just look for sellers that sell a lot (they'd sell new ones) and for ones with tags. Good luck.

My extensions were very inexpensive, but then again, I got the hair at a predominantly black beauty supply store, and had them fixed in at a predominantly black salon...go figure.

But three packages of 20"-24" hair was $150 and the cost of having my hair washed and braided, and the application of thethe extensions was only $120. But I don't know how much it costs for caucasion hair.

dollylocks, it is so not fair how us white girls have to pay so much more for extensions. I used to have a boss who got a different set like every month and her hair always looked great and she would be shocked how much I'd pay to just get my hair highlighted!
