Default Why did you become a dancer

Hey Gals! I'm brand new, so please be nice

I want to become a dancer... but i dont know what to do. I have a BF been together for years, i dont think he would like it, but I have been taking pole lessons for about 12 months now and have done a few of the striptease and lapdancing courses just for the fun of it, but i want to do something more... I have a boring job and would love the extra cash... I dunno...

    Greetings Taleetha, welcome to SW.

Thanks for doing a little browsing to answer some of your questions. Yeah there's tons of material here on the boards for you.

Here's a thread asking the question "Why did you start dancing"....

    http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32582

There are also threads out there like "How old were you when you started dancing" and "Things you wish you knew when you started dancing." I didn't paste them since I didn' think they addressed your Q directly, but feel free to look them up.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Taleetha,

There are threads in Stripping General about "Why did you decide to start dancing?", and at least three on "How do I deal with the boyfriend and my dancing?", though they may have somewhat different names.

Speaking as someone who has counseled dancers with boyfriends, and being the boyfriend of a dancer as well, lol--I can tell you it's not always easy for them to accept certain aspects of your job, especially if you are in a high-contact area. If you are resolved to go ahead and do it regardless of his feelings, more power to you, but there is a good chance it will cause major problems.

Very few guys can handle being a dancer's boyfriend, though they will line up readily to try it, lol...

Your best bet is to convince him how utterly meaningless all these guys hitting on you are. Tales of their pathetic attempts to win your affection can be useful, if delivered in a style that makes him relax and laugh. Avoid all temptation to rub it in to him how much attention you are getting, he doesn't need to hear about it. Tales of perverts grabbing you without your permission--in VIP or in the managers' office alike--are more dangerous. Handle with care. The protective streak is hard for some men to shed, myself included, but it has to be done. Try to make it easy on him to do it, and you will have a much greater chance of success.
