Is anyone here a vegetarian/pescatarian/vegan/ovo-lacto/ovo/lacto vegetarian? (Yeah, I think that covers all of it...)
I became a vegetarian a few months ago when part of me realized the only way for me to lose weight (because I LOVE food) was to cut something out of my diet, among other reasons. It was tough in the beginning, but now I have an indifference at best to meat. It's great--I've cut down my salt and fat intake, and I feel better than before. I live with my family, so my mom, a South Beach Diet kind of woman, is always pressuring me to eat more protein to make up for the protein lost, but I heard somewhere else that this wasn't as important as previously thought. Has anyone else heard anything about protein importance?
