When I say best, I mean best tasting and best for you! They tend to be a little pricey so I'd hate to just go out there and taste test a few and end up with crappy results.
Thanks ya'll.

I have tried them all. Without question, the best (and all natural) protein bars are Clif Bar Builder Bars.
With 20g of protein and 270 calories per bar, loaded with 23 vitamins and minerals, no hydrogenated oils or trans fats, and seriously great taste, they're the best. I buy these things by the case. Peanut Butter is really awesome, and Chocolate is good too.
You can buy these at most supermarkets.

Clif Bars are yummy (I love the carrot cake!).
But Detour bars are like Snickers!
Because there ain't no tits on the radio

i have to agree with CO. ive tried them all and i'm in love with the builder bars... they are soo yummy. not low carb though, so take heed - there about 30g of carbs in each bar. but all natural and organic ingredients, so no artificial sweeteners or anything that make make a sensitive (like mine) upset.
I don't like any of them. I stick with fruits and veggies.![]()

I like the pure protein bars, Promax bars, pria (powerbars).......I try to make sure the protien content is higher than the sugar content

The problem is to find one that isn't too high in calories or fat with a high protein level with low amount of carbs. LOL i'm still trying to find one!!
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
Promax bars in cookies n cream, yummy.
So, does the amount of protein typically outnumber the amount of carbs? I'm assuming it does or else they wouldn't be very healthy right?
What's a good amount of protein to cancel out the carbs? I'm thinking along the lines of the zone diet....
The Zone Perfect bars are awesome! I always have a few on hand for cravings in the car when I'm out running errands or on my way to the gym. Helps me from hitting fast food! The two I have right now are chocolate peanut butter and chocolate caramel cluster. They have 210 cal., 7 g fat, 21 g carbs., 16g protien. I prefer the chocolate varieties over the yogurt flavors. Check Wal-Mart for bars. These are only $.98 there and are $1.50 everywhere else.
Hmmm...I think I'm gonna try those protien bars. the Clif ones!

Kashi Go Lean bars. I tried the oatmeal one today and it was pretty good. It had 19gms of protein and 6 or 7 gms of fiber; kept me full for a few hours. About 260 ish calories. Not so bad for me.

The Dr. Soy Vanilla Yogurt ones are SOO good. They have ten grams of soy protein and only about 180 calories.
The guy I'm seeing brought me one of his to try...it was an EAS of some sort. It was actually really good and HUGE. I could barely eat the whole thing. Then I didn't eat the rest of the day.
Since being single again, I'm such a space cadet. Stress makes me not eat. I've lost like ten pounds, I swear.

power bar's protein plus carb select chocolate peanut butter. Love them, and they are perfect for me because they are low carb high protein and taste like a candy bar.

If I eat them I go for a Tri o Plex (usually one a month!)
I found this great recipe for really yummy homemade bars that are actually pretty tasty.
No Bake Nutrition Bar Recipe by Stella Juarez
If you don't like the additives in store-bought nutrition bars or hate paying $3 for a meal replacement bar or protein bar snack, you'll appreciate this recipe. My friend Sara passed a recipe on to me from a Body-For-Life message board and I've modified based on some kitchen testing. These are quick to make and make for a nice little snack, too. Best of all, they contain healthy dietary fat, are no-sugar added and do not contain glycerine or other unnatural ingredients. Be sure to keep them refrigerated and don't eat the whole batch at once!
Ingredients:
5 tbsp natural peanut or almond butter (chunky or smooth)
1/2 cup dry oats or whole grain hot cereal (uncooked)
1/2 cup oat flour (double the oats if you do not have oat flour)
6 scoops chocolate whey protein (~132 grams protein)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons flax seeds (optional)
1 cup non-fat dry milk
1/2 cup water (depending on what type of protein you use, you may need to add more)
Directions:
Spray an 8x8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Combine dry ingredients in a medium size bowl and mix well. Add peanut butter and mix - the mixture will be crumbly and dry. Add water & vanilla. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, everything until a dough forms. The dough will be sticky. Spread dough into pan using a clean wooden spoon or spatula that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Refrigerate a few hours (or freeze for an hour) and cut into 9 squares. Wrap bars individually (use sandwich bags or plastic wrap) or store in covered container between sheets of wax paper. Keep refrigerated.
Modifications: Use vanilla protein and replace ~1/4 cup of the oatflour with a variety of nuts, seeds, or dried berries. Chopped almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, peanuts, flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, or dried cranberries would all work well.
Nutritional Information Per Serving:

My problem with protein bars is that most of them have so much sugar. I try to avoid them for that reason. There is one brand at GNC which isn't bad. Not the best taste, but no carbs and no sugar. I think NitroTech or MesoTech.

Myself, I can't really tolerate peanut butter. There is a brand (name escapes me) from vitaminshoppe.com. They're low carb, I think low sugar, come in choc. donut, blueberry, cinnamon roll, (I always get that one). They come in a pkg. They taste good, but do have a slight aftertaste. I definately go w/VG on the fruits, but winter here has few fresh choices. I also like their totable convenience.
