    Default Commute to work?

Howdy y'all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

    A quick bit about me.
I'm 20, live in a rural part of Texas - but grew up in San Antonio. As it is, I'm on hiatus from college right now - 1)financial stuff 2) Just plain don't like it!

The cost of living around here [small town] is relatively cheap, I couldn't imagine moving to a bigger city because I simply couldn't afford the board for my horses [my babies!] - the closest big city is Ft.Worth, and its about an hour/ hour and a half away - is this an acceptable drive? Or in the end will I just be screwin' myself over in gas? Just curious as to how far some of you drive to work....thanks!

[[btw - I'm SO jealous of y'alls cute sparkle names! ]]

    Hi and Welcome!

First off.... I am the pink poster here, let's just get that straight! LOL - Just kidding...

I'm sure Rhi would be happy to make you a sparkly sig if you are reeeeeaaaaaaaly nice to her.

I would do a drive to dance as long as it took no longer than 2 hours. I did the hour and 30 minute drive for a long time, it got old quick. I moved to the city where I dance. Now it's about 3 minutes away....yippee!!!!

eee! So sorry! Relinquish my pink to you; perhaps I shall reign as turquoise queen? Or something along the lines!

I figure thats what I'll eventually [hopefully!] do. If I can make the money and afford to move the horses - then we'll all pack up 'n head to the big city! [yee-haw!] Right now I'm 4 minutes from the Vet Clinic, if I land a job in Ft. Worth it'll be hard to get used to an hour drive. Lordy.

Thanks for the welcome 'n reply!

    LOL you guys are funny!!!
I used to drive about 30-35 min to work and if I was working out of town about 2- 2 1/2 hours. Depends....for the longer drive Id make more money. Hometown was a bit different.
I say go to visit the far club if you have enough time? Do you even know where you might possibly want to work? If you have enough cash move to the big city if not go test drive the club before you wanna work there.
Good luck hun!!! Welcome to SW btw.

I try to have a good attitude/sense of humor like..24/6 [need to have a day off to be a witch]. LOL

Anyways, I've got two, an Arabian rescue gelding [a castrated boy] 30 years old, was starving when I got him and a APHA (a paint horse) mare [a girl] - and she's fixing to get some stud loving - so, I'll have a bun in the oven

I hope I don't get in trouble, but these are pictures of my 'kiddos' Snow and Sydney:

[[my quick, ugly reply, sorry TM - I'll give you pretty sometime - I promise]]

I e-mailed someone at Baby Dolls - so far thats the only person I've talked to.
I don't know the Ft. Worth area well, so I did a 'net search and found places that I could get ahold of over the 'net, Baby Dolls was the only place to reply - so, I'm taking it from there. I'm just so nervous about being a 'newbie' 'amatuer' - and not getting hired anywhere.

Don't get me wrong. I love to dance...around my apartment, at work when no ones around, at wal-mart while shopping for the essentials... LOL

An hour and a half drive really shouldn't be that bad...I work two hours from where I live, and just stay at a hotel. I also work weekends only though...

I would recommend working near a club that has an affordable hotel nearby. Many clubs are located in areas that have hotels around to accomodate business travellers. I don't know much about Ft Worth clubs except that they get busted often. I know one of the popular ones had to become a bikini bar a while back.

If you are too tired to drive back, get a room, its better than falling asleep at the wheel. You will make plenty of cash and gas in TX isn't as expensive as on the coasts.

Calling or emailing won't get you much luck. If I were you I would post a question about Ft Worth clubs in the Club Chat section of this forum.....

I used to drive 4 and a half hours! YUCK! BUT I did that because I wanted to get my feet wet waaaaaay far away, so if I decided I didn't want to dance, no harm no foul. Once I decided to dance full time I found a club in my city, so I only drive 20 minutes now. Thank God!!! When I was driving so far, all my money went to my gas and hotel and food for the weekend. But for me, it was worth it for a little bit...got me on a stage, exposed to how SC work, all that jazz.......give it a shot for a little while, but realize that you'll probably get tired of that drive and want to be closer....

Wowee, thanks for all the replies!

Getting a hotel was something I was thinking of doing, if I made enough cash to make the stay worth it.

And I'll prolly post in the club section about places to dance in Ft. Worth, I did a few search and for some reason couldn't come up with anything.

    4 hours?! Lordy!

Did you read the Newbie FAQ, where it tells you where to look for club listings online?

Well my drive to my home club is 40-45 min (driving the speed limit) one way. I usually make it in about 35mins.

And the club I'm going to vacation at for a few weeks is about 3-3 1/2 hrs away, but I plan on staying there at a hotel. I am going to drive up there work for 4 days or so then come home for the 3 other days then do it all again. Only for a few weeks though, unless I really like this new club and I bank like a big dawg!

I did read the newbie FAQ, I saw the pay site advertisement (something like 15 dollars a month?), Plus I've done a google/yahoo search - it came up with lots of numbers and places, but I immediately went to the Clubs with websites (I figure if they're willing to put an extra hundred or so a month out on webservice its worth taking a look) and contacted/been contacting them first.

    Ack, does that sound right?

Kitana, good luck ringing in the 'phat bling-bling' - LOL.

I commute off and on. The most I have commuted is 2 hours one way. Let me tell you, that got old really fast. When I was coming home I felt like I was playing pac-man because of all the reflectors on the road. Not really a good thing, it made me sleepy and I would have to take five minute naps every so often. I have commuted shorter distances, but for me, if I'm driving 2 hours of interstate it's better than driving 2 hours of lil windy roads. just my opinion.
