Default Can tanning booths damage your hair?

I was wondering, my hair seems very staticky these days, maybe it's just the cold weather but I've also started tanning more regularly. I was wondering if tanning can damage your hair?

You always hear about wearing a hat in the summer to protect you from the sun.. My hair is my thing, it's long and beautiful and all natural and I've waited a long time to have it like that, so should I wear something on my head or something?

    Thanks for your input.

You bet! If it can damage you're skin, it can damage you're hair. It's the UVA and UVB rays. Not sure what you are getting from a tanning bed/booth, but it's damaging to the skin, so why not hair too.

It can fade, and dry out locks, causing shaft breaking, and thinning, along with a sunburn on you're head.

This is what i hear from the people i know who refuse to cover their hair while in a tanning booth.

Some have gone to a spray tan, that last 3 weeks.

Yes. Just covere your hair with a towel when you go in. If I forget just a couple times I can tell how dry it gets.

I used to work at a tanning salon and it can do major damage to your hair. A big towel will work and a conditioner or leave on spray with sunscreen just like what was mentioned. Nails get a number done on them as well so be careful with them especially if they aren't real and "french manicure".

Yup the tanning beds will damage you hair at a faster rate the the sun! Put a towel over it especially if it is color treated hair. And always wear lip protection!

yep... I always put a deep conditioner in and put on a shower cap while I tanned.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Thanks for the info ladies, I never cover my hair in the bed, and its been crappy lately.

If you get a french manicure, make sure to fan-dry the nails, and wear gloves in the bed, they will turn acrylics yellow!

Thanks ladies! I will definitly start wearing a shower or swimming cap when I go tanning. My hair isn't color treated, and I love it because it's so healthy and shiny and I wouldn't want to lose that because it took me forever to get it like that. (Had to cut it REALLY short because it was ruined by coloring and let it grow again; it took me 3 YEARS!!)
