    Default agencies?

SO, today I had an interview with a local agency fellow (edmonton, alberta, Canada) and got a few questions answered and acquired a few new ones. (I'm not dancing now, I'm just getting into it).

anyways, i was asking him the diff. between dancing through an agency and on your own and his claim is that without an agency you won't get hired, clubs don't like to "deal with the girls". i was just curious if this is accurate or if this is just this guy being a dink.

then he says they take 15% of what I make (just the stage price payout or whatever, i get tips and private dancemoney....or so i think). is this a normal percentage? is it good? is it awful? i'm not sure what to expect and looking for local agencies is proving to be hard.

anywyas, my main question to all you posters out there is this:
    agencies.....love 'em, or leave 'em?

Find Another agent-The Clubs normally discourage dancers from using an agency but for all the wrong reasons,to save money is there only big reason-but they call the agency every week looking for dancers. The agent usually gets paid by the club for sending you over to work. Out west shows are the big thing so if you are good he should be able to get a better show price for you. If you are new in most cases you will have to earn your value in pay rate. If any Licenses or money is paid by your agent to get you started of course pay him back and if he/she is very good and professional keep them, Keep in mind the premise is that you are selling Fantasy and not your body. Ask other dancers if it sounds strange just like you are asking questions now. As long as you are working your agent is making money and as soon as you stop he is not. Some Clubs operate in a hands out fashion and because they have to pay your agent a fee they will try to wien you off your agent.
    Hope this Helps!
