    Default Sharecropper society?

In particular, he warned that this meant a sizeable portion of what US citizens earned in future would have to be paid to foreign landlords.
“A country that is now aspiring to an “Ownership Society” will not find happiness in – and I’ll use hyperbole here for emphasis – a “Sharecropper’s Society,” added Mr Buffett. “But that’s precisely where our trade policies, supported by Republicans and Democrats alike, are taking us.”

Great link...and it's very true. Amplified by our own lifestyles...running debt no matter how much money we make, throwing away our natural resources while looking for new forms of entertainment...

There's a flip side to this, however. Those foreign landlords may wind up loaning us money today which is 'worth something', but wind up being paid back in the future with money that is worth much less. Today's situation is really no different than the 'Japanese buying up America' scare of the 1980's.

What is absolutely certain is that a sizeable percentage of every dollar that a US worker earns will be confiscated by the gov't. Whether it gets paid out to foreign landlords or retirees or welfare recipients or unionized civil service employees is a whole 'nuther story.
