Anyone paid for a membership? Is it worth it? Is there actual info about clubs or just a bunch of horndogs asking about milage?

Sometimes I pay, sometimes I get credit for reviews (you get a month free access for each published customer review). I think it's a good resource; they do describe the mileage, but also club facilities and dance types and prices. It's much more informative than SCL, because it keeps the club chat separate from the actual reviews. Also, I find them to be very good about keeping the basic information--club hours, type, location, phone numbers--up to date. It's only about $6 a month, less if you pay for a year up front.
I never pay for this site and have been a member for over a year now.
You can get a free 30-day membership with each review, and you can review the same place multiple times as long as the site admins feel there is new information provided. (Just take a look at the list of top reviewers. The #1 guy basically reviews the same club over and over and over. heh)
As far as the site goes, IMO there are only a few decent resources on it.
The site has a general discussion board - don't bother. Waste of time.
Each club also has 2 sections; a message board and a reviews section. If you are familiar with SCL then the club message boards are similar to that. Maybe able to find some useful things, but mostly a waste. The one GOOD thing about the site are the club reviews, which of course you can only see with a membership. These are actually fairly decent, and well moderated, and do a fair job of giving people a feel for the club.
Other features of the site include the ability to search for clubs by location or radius search.
There is also a glossery of SC terms, a guide book for new customers, and some tips for new dancers.
Best of luck.

Hmmm I didnt know Tuscl was better moderated than SCL? I like to read all types of reviews to get a feel for a certain club..or even just for fun.

"better moderated" .... well???? lolOriginally Posted by TigersMilk
Anyway, like I mentioned the sites general discussion board, and the message boards for the individual clubs are pretty much free for alls - just like SCL. Members and non members can post there.
The club reviews however, do have to pass some sort of admin approval before they are posted. What this means I don't know. But I will say in reading the reviews that I have had the chance to go over, they are usually helpful in some limited form. (How's that for a qualified statement!) At least worth checking out, which is more than I can usually say for SCL.

Well, I got a membership, and it was kind of worth it... I'm gonna write down all the basic info into a word file and just refer to that when I need, instead of continuing to pay.
I have a membership I pay for at TUSCL. I could probably bitch and get a free one but I would rather support the site. People seem to behave, give good information.. pretty much the complete opposite of clowns at SCL where people post using others names and such.
I find TUSCL to be well worth it, like right now a friend of mine is interested in purchasing a club that is for sale. Before wasting a trip to the west coast to check it out for him I can get a general sense of the place from the reviews and chat if there is any.
But, like anything there will always be haters, ex employees, customers who got kicked out, and just generaly pissed of people who will try and discredit a club for personal reasons that have no bearing on the truth. You have to be able to pick the clowns out of the circus.

You can find basic info on both TUSCL and SCL, although it is not always accurate. TUSCL is a bit better site considering they actually have reviews and not just some generalized comments section for riff-raff. But I'd still grade it a 'C' at best. One disadvantage is that the number of reviews on there aren't as plentiful as one would hope. I think a lot of people haven't figured out that they can get free access for submitting reviews.
The message board on TUSCL is an absolute joke as is the ratings system. All it takes is 8 good reviews and a club can end up on the top 20 list. As Verf mentioned, one guy reviewing the same club over and over can single handedly accomplish that. I wish they'd tweak their ratings formula and reign in their review policy a little bit. Unless there have been drastic changes at a club, I think a limit to one review of a club every six months for a member is plenty. People should be making contributions that would be of benefit to others on there, instead of submitting mini trip reports.
In seeking to find a good club, don't pay so much attention to the ratings or to one person's comments. Generally the number of times a club has been reviewed is a better indicator of traffic. Also realize that it being a customer review, what might mean a place to have a good time for a customer doesn't always translate into a good earnings club for a dancer. Most of the clubs on that top 20 list are known for being high mileage, but not neccesarily high class.

I write reviews to get my membership. As a free site it's worth every penny I pay for it. I agree with Doc that the number of reviews is much more important than what they say. The basic club info is usually fairly accurate but the chat boards contain little useful information. 2 of my favorite clubs get consistently mediocre to bad reviews and yet they are both always crowded and the dancers at both of them do well. It's better than SCL but that’s like saying a stroke is better than an aneurysm.

It's basically a directory for Extras. It also is good for figuring out what clubs are like in other areas when used in conjuction with other sources of information.
I think TUSCL is good in some ways, and a lot better than stripclublist.com. Stripclublist picks and chooses what will be kept on the boards.
The bad side to TUSCL is that people will just write the same thing for about 10 different clubs just to keep their membership going. Just cut and paste and keep on going. So many of the reviews are not accurate.

I'm a member for reviews. I use the site primarily for objective information: where clubs are, hours of operation, links to websites, etc. "Review" type information is, in my opinion, hopelessly subjective, and therefore I don't put a lot of emphasis on that kind of stuff.
On the other hand, it is run in good faith, by people who appear to have decent motives and a firm editorial hand. SCL is like the back fence in the elementary school yard, where people just try to out-do each other writing run stuff. I wouldn't waste the electrons to look at that page, now that I have seen it several times.

that's writing "rude" stuff

No joke. VIPs in Chicago is rated poorly because the low contact. Yet, it seems as if tons of dancers want to work there.Originally Posted by doc-catfish
