Begining Stripper Needs Help - Please Help

Hi, first I'd like to introduce myself. I'm looking to become a dancer in order to make some extra money and help pay my way through college. Right now I'm still in high school, just turned 18, and will be graduating in a few months.
I've identified a few clubs that I'd be interested in working for and they all said I should come in and audition. I had a few questions about the audition and would greatly appreciate any advice you could give.

The clubs said that I should wear a "long gown" - what exactly does that mean? Could I wear one of my usual dresses (they end a couple inches above the knee) or should I buy a dress specifically made for exotic dancing? Could I wear a regular outfit - like a skirt and top?

Will I actually be taking off my clothes while I am auditioning? If so, what should I be wearing underneath my dress - regular lingerie (such as a g-string and bra) or "clubwear" that I would have to buy?

Do I need to be really graceful while I'm dancing or is it alright if I look a little awkward? (I'm still getting used to my high heels)

If I want to scout out the club ahead of time, will I need to bring a male companion or will they let me in by myself if I say I'm interested in working there?

Do I need a state issued ID or passport to prove my age or is my school ID enough?

Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help.

You are auditioning at what is called a "gown club". There are places that sell these long gowns specifically made for stripping. Usually they have slits way up the side and are very low cut, so we're not talking about your prom dress. Try the links. Personally if I were you, I think I would go in and audition in a regular outfit and tell them that you will get a gown if you get the job. I can't see spending that money without knowing for sure you're going to dance there. Also, if you get the job, I'd just buy one or two gowns to start. You might change to a club that doesn't require gowns, or you might decide dancing isn't for you.

This depends. The only places I've ever "auditioned" they just kind of looked you over and you were hired. I'd wear some sexy lingerie underneath just in case.

They know you're new, don't worry about it.

A lot of clubs don't allow unescorted women, though the manager might let you in if you said you were considering working there. You could just call and ask them. Personally though, I think I'd take a male friend, that way you could talk to a couple of the girls and get a better feel for the place. This may surprise you, but some managers will lie.

Do I need a state issued ID or passport to prove my age or is my school ID enough?
Well, it's been a while since I've been mistaken for a minor If I ran a club, I'd require proof of legal age. I'd really wonder about a club that would let anybody dance there without checking their age.

Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help.
There's tons of info on here about scouting out new clubs to work at. The two most important things to consider are how many customers come through the door and are you comfortable with the average mileage in the club.

Thank you so much for the advice - it's really helpful. I was going to go out and buy a gown, but I'm going to do what you recommended and just walk into a few clubs and take it from there. Thanks again.
