    Default Overseas Weirdness

Ok, as some of you know, I am selling my cocker pup. Well, I put his picture and an ad on the internet, at petsell.com Well..Ive gotten a couple of crazy emails from two (i think) seperate people. One was a woman, and she wanted to, just listen, have someone here in the USA send me a check for $3,500 (why that much? I dont know, she said someone was in debt to her), have me deposit it at my bank, then take out all the money except my 250, then western union the money to her shipper. Wtf?? Of course I told her no, but then a guy emailed me and said he was interested in it for his daughter, and wanted someone here in Philly to send me a check for $3,000 (he said someone owed him a favor), and do the same thing the woman requested above. Wtf??! I really dont get it. Anyone else had any types of these probs? Is it like, overseas mafia or something?

that sounds like that old nigerian scam, but i cant remember the whole thing.

They would say, give me your account info so we can deposit "large" form of money ...etc, so they can move it out of the country.

    Thenthey take everything youown .

Good idea to not do it.

No no no no..You misunderstand me. They dont want my account information for anything. The first lady wanted me to cash a check from her "client" and wait for it to clear, then take the amount minus my 250$ out, and western union it to her shipping company. The guy that is interested now is saying his client will send me a money order for 3,000 and he wants me to cash it and take my $ out, then like, use it to pay the shipping company or something. It all sounds ridiculous to me.

it sounds pretty sketchy to me that two separate people had the same exact request. I wonder what the deal is with that? Confusing, huh?

Yea! Its like, really weird. I donno. I emailed the guy and told him it was fine if I was sent the 250$ for the pup, and then if his "client" as he calls it wants to pic up the puppy and ship it himself, thats fine. Its weird though.

lol. They tried to do that to my SO when he was selling his car on autotrader...

Im not going to go through the whole ordeal, but basically it is a scam!!! DO A SEARCH ONLINE FOR IT

They are expecting you to cash the fake certified check, and after you wire them the difference, your bank calls you to tell you it was fake and that you lost a whole lot of money.
They will have you wait for a check from like poyle, GREAT BRITIAN.

Ill post a website later if i can find it on a women that lost her whole life savings to this scam...

its a well known scam. the check is stolen or forged. when you deposit the check, then withdraw the money and send it back, you are cashing a forged check for the crooks.

Why would you give your precious little puppy to these scammers? If someone tried to pull any kind of wird shit on me while I tried to sell a pet I would write them right off my list of buyers! You don't want some ay-hole to get close to an innocent, defenceless animal.

Besides, this totally sounds like a scam. Why would anyone ask a stranger for these favours? What if you take the money and keep it instead of Western Union it?

Edit: I don't want to sound mean, but if anyone like this offered me any amount of money, even double or more of what I was asking for the pup I wouldn't trust the poor guy in the hands of some coldhearted pricks

It is a scam and has nothing to do with your dog, they are just looking for people selling anything to get the cash back to them, there is a lady who sells horses who has devoted a whole part of her website to scamming the scammers who want to 'buy' her horse....she strings them on for months wasting there time and effort then busts them...its pretty funny, if I find the site again Ill post it.

Just get the amount for your dog and check out the people thouroughly first...BTW why are you selling him??

We are selling him because my husband is getting out of the military in April, and the apt we have there doesnt accept pets..I did try though, I told the landlord guy that I would put a deposit down and pay extra monthly, but he said since it is a community property, no animals were allowed. Ill email this guy though, and tell him no way. I dont need to get caught up in bullcrap like that.

I responded to your PM and stuck this link in there too, but I figured I'd post it here as well since it's been mentioned.

It does have a lot of characteristics of the Nigerian scam. It's a possibility. You can never be too careful with things coming from overseas locations.

If you receive any questionable emails, you can also look their e-addies up at the same site:

Well what you could do, is take the check wait the 3 weeks for it to clear, and then contact them and tell them it bounced. Even if it didn't. This way you are scamming the scammers.

And good luck trying to find a good home for puppy poo. Maybe one of these SW mommas will take him off your hands.

Thank you for the links Rhia, I will definitely check them out. And Kitana, that would be funny to scam a scammer, lol. At any rate, Im not doing crap for this guy, I have a kid I have to support, so better to not get myself or family into any financial trouble.

I did report them, but not to authorities, I went to the link Rhia posted above. I did send the three I turned in some very nasty emails. Assholes.
