Did You Start out as a Waitress?

I've been meaning to create this poll for a while. I began waitressing at The Colorado GC in Houston in Summer 1997. Then, almost a year later in Spring 1998, I began to actually strip here in Austin.

I am curious about who here had similar beginnings. I was definately not ready to dance when I was waitressing, so I guess observing it firsthand for a while desensitized me to the shock. Once I got out there as a stripper, I had no problems getting undressed and doing lapdances. Hustling was learned over time of course....

My actual job was a "beerbath girl" (you know, the annoying girl who stands at the front door with a tub of beer and tries to sell a beer to everyone walking in).

I remember saying to someone that I will never become a stripper because the more it is around me, the more disgusting it seems.. Haha, I lasted about 6 months and then started stripping. Once I started stripping I was soooo relieved to realize that it wasn't even 1/4 as bad as I expected! It was sooo fun.. And, of course, let's not forget the money

I wish I had a chance to waitress, but I started in a town with a high unemployment rate, so the waitressing jobs were already filled.
I admire waitresses a lot, tough gig. I always hassle my customers to "tip the waitress."

I did a few amateur contests before I started working as a dancer.

I'm tempted, while on LOA, to go do some amateur nights. heehee

I went in to waitress, it was my first night and it was a Sunday, so the place was dead. The mgrs kept telling me that I would make a crapload of money with the way I looked, but I didnt pay attention to that. So the first night I worked I asked if I could play on the pole, and they said yes, and after that first night of "waitressing" I have been dancing.

I'd love to waitress in a club- waitressing jobs in good clubs are highly coveted 'round here, and usually reserved for ex-dancers.

    I started dancing right away

I started waitressing in hole in the wall SC and got a job bartending at a more popular SC , got fired from there after 6 months because they thought I wasnt hoochie enough!! (Sorry! If I like my hair brown and my tits au naturel!!)

Anyways, after that I worked in normal clubs for like 4 months and didnt make good $$$, when one of the clubs closed because of a murder commited inside it I went stripping. I had a lot of overdue bills and 10$ left in my pocket!

I was way too excited about stripping to do any other jobs first. I had an exaggerated image in my mind of the shocking world of stripping so I was nervous to walk into my first strip joint, but as soon as I walked in I was like "oh. ok." I wasn't shocked at all and I started two or three days later.

I started out as a waitress and within a month I was dancing. I kept looking at the stage and thinking "damn, I can do that." Plus I saw the money the girls were getting and that definitely caught my attention. The owner and bartenders had a running bet how long it would take me to get up on stage. The owner won.

I went in and appled for a waitressing job, but ended up dancing right away instead. I was really hung up on knowing what to do, and wanted a way to be able to watch the dancers so I could learn how to dance. The owner said I could sit there and watch the girls until I felt comfortable going up on stage. Been dancing ever since.

I voted for the month and under but it actually took me about six weeks. When I went in to apply they tried to get me to dance and I watched girls do lap dances and thought "Hell no! Not me!" I made decent money waitressing (much better than the Coney Island I worked at before) but the dancers were making a whole lot more. I was soooo nervous my first night because the valet guy I had a crush on ended up being my first dance! He thought he was doing me a favor! He thought my dancing for someone I knew would be easier. Walking in and starting without knowing anyone would have been better. The entire male staff couldn't wait to see my tits!

LOL these are some funny stories to interesting beginnings.
I was told strippers always make hundreds of dollars a night always! HA! No one told me that money didnt fall in your lap?
So, I go in and apply for a waitressing job. They said they were full and didnt have any positions open. The manager asked me if I ever thought about dancing (here we go) and I said "I dunno"...gave it a quick thought and said Id try it. He said if I didnt like it I could quit.
Was so nervous my 1st time but had a ton of fun

I worked for one night as a waitress. I didnt like the uniforms (Thong with corset) and went back to regular waitressing then a couple months later started dancing. My thought was if I am going to wear a thong I might as well get Paid for it.

I started as a dancer right away. I talked my sister to come in and try out the night of her 18th birthday about a year and a half later. She danced for awhile, took a year break, came back, danced for about 2 months and now she's the waitress.
