    Default do "amateurs" really win?

Does an actual amateur really win at amateur night or does some exprienced dancer or the club waitress/bartender get it? Do you usually get a job offer after? Are the chances good of being hired if you go out there and do amateur night?

I was a true amateur, never danced before. I won first place, $200, and they offered me a job that night. We have had waitresses compete and they do win since it's judged by audience participation vote, however, just entering the contest serves as an audition, so if the managers like you they'll hire you.

When I did my amateur night the girl that won was a dancer from another club that actually does amateur night at the other club every month. I still got a job offer from management though.

I didn't do amateur night because I was too afraid of all those guys gawking, cheering, or looking bored. Once, I saw an amateur win because with my wiley female skills, I encouraged the audience to cheer for her.

I've seen some where they are legit but that is few and far between. I can tell you this though, I've been a judge of these contests on more than one occasion and in over half of them, I've been asked to lean my votes toward one particular person.

I have been told by management that if there is a real amatuer in the contestt than she will win regaurdless . I guess they thinkthat makes them look better or more fair . I think its dumb to fix something like that because its always clear who should and it just ends up pissing people off . Also most clubs have you participate in the amauter night as part of your audition so all the girs there might not really care about winning anyways . I have seen the management pick wiinners by who they wanted to work inthe club the most , their way of butter the girl up i suppose .

I did an amateur night at an all nude club without dancing before and I won like $500. I wasn't offered a job though, but that was just as well since I was moving out of state anyway.

The setup of "amateur" night varies from club to club.

The the # of times and duration of stage time can vary.

Some clubs have the audience cheer for the winner, some clubs the manager or DJ just chooses, some actually have a judge or pannel.

Some clubs allow the amateurs to collect tips during their shows, while others just have the amateurs dance for the prizes only.

Yeah, the majority of the competitors are usually dancers from other clubs. I know several girls who view amateur nights as supplemental income, espcially in this time of the year when clubs are slow. However, most of the dancers I know like to go to the Am nights where stage tips can be collected, AND there is a decent prize for 2nd and/or 3rd.

I've seen it fairly common for clubs to rig the contest for a true amateur, so those 2nd and 3rd's become important. Now if no true amateur completes, then the prize goes up for grabs.

btw - one's place in the Am night contest usually has little to do with being offered a job. Seen many girls who finnished "out of the money" and still be offered jobs.

They do amateur nights sometimes at the gold club in baltimore, but they gave away like 2 grand before, but of COURSE, a friggin waitress that works there was allowed into it, which I think is bullshit, and she won. Not fair at all.

In my club, amatuer competitions are weekly. Two judges are picked at random from the customers at tip row. The realty - most guys are dumb and pole tricks and seductive strippers moves will win even though the performer is obviously NOT an amatuer. Also, at my club the waitresses usually win because the dancers are comfortable with them and will get on stage to flirt and tip them and that gets the crowd going so they vote for her.

True amatuers that are nervous and have not practiced usually look awkward and so the guys don't vote for them, which seems stupid to me. If it's an "amatuer" competition, then I think amatuers should win. I asked the dancers at the club how the competition went and who usually wins it before I competed. Thankfully, at my club you didn't have to win to get hired. The only advice is that you should not wear street clothes! The ones wearing jean skirts or tank tops are doomed.

Yes,some do.So long as you don't get sh*tfaced drunk like some of these Big Easy tourists and fall off the stage.

You girls are great at letting us newbies find out the info we need. I will be going to an amateur contest on Sunday night. This will be my first one I am so nervous. Still don't know if I will dance but I will be ready just in case.
Speaking of wearing street clothes, I thought that would be a bad thing. So I found this great outfit.

I have never danced before inmy life, My husband says I should do it. I have learned on here to dance slow and sudductive and make eye contact among other things.

    Any other tips?

Anyway thank you for all the support and everything.
