I am in my thirties also. I make just as much or as little money as the younger girls do. My suggestion is, if you can't afford a trainer or a gym, get a jumprope, (very cheap) and invest in some free weights and do your work outs at home. Since my panic attacks started, instead of going to the gym, ( where I had my first one) I work out at home or outdoors or pack my snowboard and go to the local mountain. (That last one does taking planning and experience and a little $$.)

Try a self tanner or get air brushed.

Most of all just believe in yourself. It's funny. I have some negative co- workers who say things like, "the only reason you look like that is because you work out..." Umm...yeah...like that's a bad thing? Sometimes my workout is just power walking around my hood to pick up dry cleaning, mail and other assorted errands. Instead of judging distance, I time myself. I am definitely sweating when I get home. Plus I get out into the fresh air.

    Just a few suggestions.

    Good luck,

    Corey

New hair cut, light self-tanner, or microdermabrasion ($60-$150, mine's $80).

Try to avoid foods that encourage bloating: food with too much salt, carbonated beverages, bread, rice, etc.

The last one I got lasted about a week. The trick with them seems to be to plan enough time for it to set before wearing tight clothes or getting wet/sweating. They last longer and look better if you are able to give 'em 12 hours. And this is the *airbrush* I'm speaking of, not Mystic tan. A real person applies it. For some reason they call it "UV Free Tanning" around here *shrug*.

if u want some quick ways to look better try doing crunches .. i know that sounds old but start by doing 2 sets of 25 a day....and work your way up to 100 a day ur abs will start to look much more toned after a week & ull feel great after you do them .. also tanning really does boost your confidence and appearance ... it will make your body look more toned dont ask me why haha but trust me it works also if you want to bring out your face more try getting your eyebrows reshaped .. it can make someone look different & you'll get the remark from people "you look different but i cant put my finger on it......" always good different tho ! hope that helps....

Everyone else is completely on the right track for people to spend their money on you you have to look worth it. I think the sunless tanner is a great idea, the Neutrogena foam kind works great for me. Get your eyebrows waxed like the previous poster said this will make you look a lot more polished ($20 after tip and everything usually). If you don't have artificial nails and/or don't want to spend the money getting them professionally done paint your nails and toenails yourself, having pretty nails perks me up. Exfoliation on your body and skin is great because removes the dead skin cells and will make you look younger. Try to get a new outfit, if you don't usually wear stockings give them a shot, just do something different and try to look more put together.

I like the Nutragena foam tanner, but I alwyad get it on too dark oround my feet and then I turn my palms orange! Not too pretty. How do you stop that? I tried scrubbing my hands repeatedly while I was doing the self tanner process, but it didn't seem to help.

I am definitley going to add crunches to my workout, especeilly since my middle section is my big trouble spot.

I'm going to call the local Pivot POint Beauty school this week and find out if they do the microdermabrasion. I love Pivot Point. THey are cheap and really good.

I forgot about the foods to avoid; I will definitely cut them out in the future!

And I bought 2 cute new outfits today, and have a couple new pairs of shoes on the way.

Hubby is actaully encouraging me to spend more $$ on myself for costumes and that sort of thing. He agrees that for guys to spend money on me, I have to look like somebody spends money on me.

Has anybody had a glycolic peel? How well does that work?

Things seem to be looking up a little bit. I am feeling better anyway!

Thanks everybody. I am always open to more suggestions!

I get glycolic peels. I went to the dermatologist for the first few, but thought $20 a peel was too expensive. I found a supplier on ebay (with awesome quality/feedback) who sold the peel system, and now do them myself at home. It was $19 and included 30%, 50%, and 70% acid and a fan brush. 70% is only for knees, elbows, etc. You start with the 30% and work your way up to the 50% on your face, increasing the length of time the acid is left on your skin. I use the 30% once a week with terrific results! Reduced pore size, even skin tone, reduced wrinkles, etc.

If you do them yourself, just be sure to get high quality glycolic acid from a reputable supplier. You don't want to risk injurying your skin. The 30% is very strong, most cosmetic glycolic products only use 10% max.

great info kittykat! Do you mind sharing your source? I didn't know you could even get anything over 10% over the counter. I am pregnant right now so I can't use my retin-a. Thanks

OOhhhh!!! Would love to know about those peels!! The Avon two step peel works wonders on me and it's only a 10% one. Do you have the user name of the one you got off e-bay? Does he have an e-bay store? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Here's the link...

    http://stores.ebay.com/Glycolic-Acid-at-WizOzKansas

I bought a 4-piece kit including the 3 different concentrations of acid (1 oz each), plus a fan brush. When I need to reorder, I will likely just buy the 30% concentration, it's VERY strong. I think it will be a long, long time before I even move up to the 50%.

It's very easy to use. I wash my face with a non-soap wash (like Cetaphil). I squirt a little acid into a dixie cup and use the fan brush to brush the acid onto my face, avoiding eyes and mouth. I started at 1 minute, and each week add 20-30 seconds onto the time. I'm up to about 4 minutes now. It burns, but if you use something to fan your face (like a magazine), it really helps. To remove and deactivate the acid, I mix a teaspoon or so of baking soda and water in my palm and then massage onto my face. Then rinse with water.

    Good luck! kat

**Note - be sure to have the baking soda ready before you apply the peel, you don't want to running around looking for it after your face is burning! You may also want to get at least one peel done at a dermatologist, just so you know what to expect**

Littledoll, you may want to check with your OB/GYN before using these peels, I don't know if it could harm your baby. I can't remember if I used them or not when I was pregnant... Congrats on your pregnancy, I hope you are feeling well!

Tannig makes you look thinnner the same way that black does: darker colours are more slimming for clothes or skin

Thanks kittykat! I just ordered a six week supply of just the 30% one. I want to see how my skin reacts before I buy a big bottle. I love the Avon 10% one so I'm hoping this will be even better! Did you experience major peeling or redness after the first few or will I be able to work a day or two after? That is my only concern.

Hey Scarlett, I really had no issues with any redness or peeling. The first few peels were done by a dermatologist so my skin may have been a little prepared before using this particular supplier's acid. The derm used 35% glycolic. I would suggest using it for the shortest time the supplier recommends and just see how your skin does.

Let me know how it goes!!

(p.s., I grew up in the SE Detroit area so I'm familiar with the weather, hopefully the peels with help with the cold/dry air right now!)

Thanks again kittykat! I'm excited to try this stuff. I'll let you know how it goes. Thankfully it will be spring here soon and we'll get some moisture in the air via all those lovely spring showers. Be very happy you got out of here! Only a few more months and i will be too.Yay!!! Another source for the chemical peels is makeupartistschoice.com. The woman who runs the site is always willing to answer questions and ships very fast. She also provides sample sizes of most things so you can make sure it is what you need.

Oh, she also carries the really strong and effective copper peptide products.
