    Default Anyone do make-overs?

I think I can post this here? If its in the wrong place, sorry.

Okay, my ‘look’ needs a serious update – I never really learned to put on make-up – just sorta experimented and went with it. I’ve never worn foundation in my life, and lipstick is still a mystery to me, since I have huge pop-out Chihuahua eyes – I’d really like to use them to my advantage.

Here’s my question/plea if there’s anyone out there who likes giving make-over or sharing make-up tips – I could really use your help about now. Even if all you want to say is, “Your hair is dookie brown, dye it.” Well – okay!

I tan really easily in the sun, so as its getting warmer - I'll probably be laying out, my skin tone won't be so......ghostly. lol. Thanks, I really appreciate it.

These are some really basic pictures of me, one without make-up, one with about as much make-up as I wear. (cheap, wal-mart stuff, eyeshadow, mascara, and eyeliner) And no, I'm 20 - not 12. LOL. And yes, I'm like - always smiling - a big scary cheshire cat smile.

You are not ugly, and I dont think you have overly huge eyes. What you MIGHT want to try though, is calling around to find a place that does makeup, like some hair salons do this. They could do your makeup for you, and then show you how to apply it, so you can do it yourself comfortably.

    RD - Aw, thanks =)

I work with horses and dogs all day [ I'm a vet tech] - so I don't get a lot of feedback on my looks, nor do I really have to dress-up for work - so dancing is going to be a HUGE change for me.

I'll try a salon. I'm just wary of getting lured up to a Clinique counter and having them dump 400 dollars worth of make-up on me. LOL.

I would not suggest going to a make-up counter at the mall. The women will try to sell you anything and are generally not that objective, nor particularly skilled. If I were you, I would get Kevyn Aucoin's books, either Face Forward or Making Faces, and try to copy some of the looks he does. You don't necessarily need expensive products to look good, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Or you could tear out pictures from magazines of girls whose makeup you would like to emulate, and try to copy those. This is how I learned.

As far as advice---- maybe some golden blonde highlights? And I also wouldn't worry about lipstick, stay with a gloss, colored or clear. I personally don't like lipstick on women under 25, too mature. If your skin is clear and even you probably don't need foundation, maybe just a bronzer and a little bit of concealor to cover spots. MAC has good eyeshadows, and if you are inexperienced, stick with neutrals.

    Jayln,

Thanks for the advice, you rawk =)

I always wondered - at a club/bar - all my friends who have blonde highlights - they show up GREEN under the black lights, is that normal? Or did they just get a bad hair job?

You are a very Pretty girl... But just don't know it yet! I would suggest if you went red like a strawberry bolnde with lsuttle highlights you would see how pretty you really are.And I wouls also try a mauve lip stick and a little dusty rose blush to highlight your cheekbones, maybe some false eyelashes and a hint of green eye shadow.

i always loved going to sephora, if that helps. And yes, im plugging my own business, but have you thought about looking for an avon beauty advisor in your area? A lot of them really know what they are doing, and if you need help, PM me and i can hook you up with one. Good luck though, and by the way, you are GORGEOUS!

Yes, hit MAC and Sephora. They both have great techs there and even as experienced as I am with make-up...they always do something new and exciting to my eyes. I love both of those places!!

I second the MAC. You will be so transformed you won't even believe it's you. Or find a license esthetician. I think it's well worth the splurge at least one time to have your makeup professionally done especially if you are makeup challenged. Find a MAC store here:

Just from your pics, I think your eyes are fine but you need a little work on the lips area.

I would go to Merle Norman and have then do a "make-over" (we don't have MAC around here) they can help by giving you colors and ideas to define the areas you already have.

I would also suggest you using a lip liner. It will make your lips a little fuller.

tiamaria, Thank You =) .My friend Maggie has been trying to get me to put red in my hair for the last 6 years. I may have to give it a try (we're thinking blonde highlights w/ red lowlights?) something like that. I about died laughing when the first time I saw a girl getting her hair 'foiled'. Jezz, guess I'm just a country bumpkin.

I've never heard of Sephora before, I'll have to do a search! Are Avon women like Mary Kay ladies - like come to your house and make you all pretty? 'Cause that would be awesome. And Honey You're very sweet and drop dead gorgeous yourself {that is you in the avatar pic, right?} lol.

I will deffinately give the MAC site/ people a try - the whole 20 dollars for a thing of eyeshadow kinda spooked me. I was like, "What?! Is this stuff made of gold?" - But, I suppose a lot on GOOD make-up - is worth not spending a lot over and over again on cheap stuff.

    Kitana.
    Lips?
    What lips?
I have thin flaps that keep my teeth from falling out. LOL

Thanks for the advice, means a lot everyone

goodness, i WISH that was me in my avatar! No way, lol... thats olivia wilde, from the OC. And yes, a beauty advisor from Avon is similar to a mary kay rep, but mary kay sells mostly makeup, in order to be a beauty advisor you have to do extra stuff with avon.. let me know if you want me to find you one in your area!

your totally hot. just give your hair more body (teasing, diffusing or curling). if you'd like a new look then do it... makes you feel revitalized.
you don't need it to dance though. any club would love you. you've got the fresh face look.
