    Default Wigs At Work

Ever wear a wig at work?

I have three wigs at home and just wondering if I should use them as part of my 'tool kit' when I am dancing. They are all full piece wigs, synthetic. One is Blonde and quite full, the other is an auburn/ strawberry blonde, and the other is black with purple streaks through it and a fringe (quite cute and brings out my blue eyes! )

Obviously people know when you are wearing a wig though. And the other thing is that the synthetic fibres can get a bit hot and itchy on your scalp after a while. But on the other hand they look hot.

    What would you do?

if you have nice hair, why cover it?!

i knew a chick who SHAVED her head, had piercings all over her face etc... got to work, took them all out, put on a long blonde wig, looked stunning and made a killing. no one would have guessed she was so freaky looking in real life!! lol

Personally, I would only wear a good human hair wig. But would someone please tell me the
secret to getting a wig to absolutely stay on during a vigorous aerobic dance with pole tricks, etc. ?

That's easy Myssi. If your wig does't already have those little combs attached, you could use bobby pins:
as many as it takes. I use at least about 30 when I wear wigs and it doesn't go anywhere.

Wigs can look gorgeous if they are real looking. Some wigs are so well done that they are just about impossible to that they aren't the person's natural hair.... I've seen it a lot. Other times when wigs aren't professional it ends up looking a little fake and trasy. I'd say go for it if you can pull it off but IMO oviously fake looks bad. But again, this is just my opinion and it's relative.

to keep wigs on you first put on a nylon cap. you place several bobby pins in the cap
put the wig over it and adjust it how you like then put even more pins in that one
focus pin placement on the edges of all. there is a technique to pin placement.
you put pin in twist and pull through. to insure no movement.
for finer hair put hairspray or mousse on your hair first. tease if necessary

as far as real hair vs. synthetic i've seen good and bad on both sides.
it is hard to order things over the Internet unless the have a size chart and multiple sizes.

falls and 3/4 wigs look the most real because of the natural hair line.

extensions can also be alot fun. you can simply add a few for a new design or a bunch for a full head. you can glue them yourself or go to a pro for micro-braiding or fusing which is ideal for medium to long hair.

these things are not just for women who are balding or trying to cover something.
some outfits actually just work better with them.

Wigs can be a fun way to change up your look and keep things interesting especialy if a dancer has been at the same club for a longtime . It can bring back some of the mystery that is lost after working the same crowd for a extended period of time.

Falls are the way to go. They already have a cap you can stick pins in and you can clip the front of your hair back so that the hair line can be seen. I wore falls for a long time and they did great. Just watch out, men like to try to put their hands through your hair or on your scalp.

I used to wear some. Funky ones. Blue or white or green or red... now I use ponyfalls a lot. It's fun! Depends on how the customers are though... if you think that they might dig it, go for it. Cant hurt to try.
