    Default Pole Tricks

Hi, I was checking out some videos on how to do pole tricks . They look so interesting and it is something I would definitley want to be good at (I really sucked a few years ago). The reason I am turning to a DVD is because I don't want to be frowned upon if I end up stealing someone's moves. The S-factor video has a 'workout' style that appeals to me but the PoleKatz video is local (CA) and has a variety of dancers. Has anyone here used either of these videos, and which one do you recommend? Mahalo nui loa!

Just remember: You cant expect to be able to do the hard pole tricks until a little ways down the line. But, I do recommend buying a tape or dvd of pole tricks. Sheila Kelly has one, poletricks101.com has one, Fawnia has one, although I dont know how good her dvd is. You wont be frowed upon by the other girls (at least I would think) IF you took their moves THEN made them your own by adding your own little flair to them. Like I said before, there are always at least 2 girls in a club who are willing to show you some pole tricks, but you have to practice practice practice. I have some pics of me doing a few easier pole tricks in the picture thread, but of course I am constantly trying to learn new things.

I ahve been a pole dance instructor and when teaching it is important to understand what your body is capable of, what is you muscle strength, cardio level etc these do factor into dancing and doing tricks. I think it depends on how strong you are. S-Factor is based as a work out for the everyday woman, So it's tricks are not difficult but just a building block. Poletricks101 is extremely advance. I like it, but the tricks will take an extreme amount of strength and endurance to master, but great to work up to. If you want just tricks broken down, Polekatz gives you 20+ tricks from easy to difficult, and of course Fawna is always a good choice.
But hey the more variety of DVD's you can pull the better, each teacher has a different style and they are all so amazing to watch.

I personally have the poletricks101 dvd, and its great. There are still about 3 or 4 moves I cant do, but Ill work up to that. It helps if you also do some push ups when you arent working, to help build up your upperbody strength. We are moving back to Illinois in April, and my mother in law suggested that I teach a few pole classes. She has about 5-6 women at work who want to learn. We'll see how that goes

Poletrick 101 is definitely not for a beginner. It's fun to watch, but until you build up the strength...don't attempt them. I would wait to purchase this one until you have mastered the easier moves and built up the strength for them.

Sheila Kelley's DVD is pretty good. Very basic for beginners. I have it, and although I already can do everything on it...I still think it was made well.

I want to get the PoleKatz one...I may just go buy it now.
