I was at my mom's house last night grabbing some of my stuff that I had left behind during my move to my new place and I found this old book I had read when I was 17 called "Hostage to the Devil". It's about 5 case studies on real life exorcisms and yeah, the book is a little creepy and all but I'm into that weird shit. Anyway, I brought it home last night and left it on the coffee table because I needed a good night read. My friend was over and her, my bf, and I were just hanging out talking when my bf saw the book. At first he was like, "Oh, cool! Where'd you get this? I wanna read it!" and he sat reading the first chapter. After about 20 minutes of reading, he looked up and told me to get rid of the book, that it's evil. I thought he was kidding me, but he was serious and started freaking me out. He said reading the book would invite evil into our home and he grabbed his kabbalah book and all these wierd jewish medallions and said we needed to cleanse the atmoshere and shit. My friend started freaking out a little too. So I told him to calm down, that all was good, no big deal, it's just a book. As he started to reiterate the book's evilness, one of our speakers on our PC cracked really loudly and made us all jump. That was enough of a sign for him, too much of a coincidence. He started crying in front of both of us and freaking out even more. I had to take the book out to my car! When I got back I gave him a hug and I was laughing over his over-dramatization until I felt his heartbeat. I thought he was going to go into fibrillation his heart was beating so fast! He swears up and down that he wasn't goofing around and that he actually felt evil coming from the book. Oh, he also thinks I'm in cahoots with the devil because this stuff doesn't bother me and that I read wierd shit like that all the time.
So.........do you guys think that a book can be that evil that it makes a 25 year old Jewish man cry in front of people and freak out? Am I evil for reading it?
