    Default Dancing with injuries

I pulled something in my back last week and it still hurts. I can't lift my right arm. I suffer through the pain at work.

Sometimes when I hang upside down on the pole, I wonder if I'm going to fall and break my neck.

What injuried have you sustained? Did you work regardless of the pain?

I pulled a muscle in my back learning how to go upside down the first week I worked. I had to go to the dr and get a shot for it, but I waited a few days before trying it again, and the pain finally subsided. Have you tried hanging upside down only by one leg or both? Just use your arms to hoist yourself up, let your legs do the rest. But I took a few days off. Its better to rest up.

I can't believe you are still hanging from the pole with an injury like that; it's dangerous. Take it easy and go see your doctor.

I danced the day I got out of the ER after being struck by a van. I know I shouldnt have, but I was stubborn and broke.

I eally wouldn't recommend dancing injured. It will just make it take even longer to heal or as ScreaminPeachez mention make it a permnant injury.

i've pulled muscles before. i have quite a few injuries. stop doing that pole trick. do pranayama yoga daily. this helps heal your body and gently get it back in order. do you stretch, weight lift or do cardio? i have to do these things before dancing or i'm in pain. aleve works really well. there's also accupuncture, massage, reiki and herbal remedies for this. if you can, use that over conventional methods.

I had a knee problem and pretty bad shin splints at one point. I took vicodin, wore 1 inch shorter shoes, and worked 1 or 2 less shifts per week until the pain eventually went away.

I wouldn't advise working through injuries. If it's sore knees or whatever, fine...but you need to take it easy. You working with that much back pain is not good. Pain in your body that lasts is supposed to tell you that something is wrong. Working through that/ignoring those signs is only going to make the pain worse. Go to the doctor and find out what the problem is.

I know working through injuries might destroy me. It's hard not to. I used to be an althete. When it was game time, I just did it.

I've been resting my right arm and have been relying on my left arm's strength for spins and climbing.

Lay off the pole work! You don't need to do pole tricks to make money!
