How long before follow-up?

I've just applied for a job that I am VERY interested in and I want them to know I'm dying to have it. I know you should follow up after submitting applications, but how long do I wait. Obviously I don't want to seem like a stalker. I submitted an application, resume and list of refrences yesterday. What do you think?

I don't know depends since when have they been hiring? if you were one of the first to apply im sure they are waiting for more applicants before they start calling people. Maybe you can call and ask when they are gonna start calling people for interviews or when the deadline for applications is.

It's a job at an interior design firm. The job was listed just this past Sunday, so it is pretty damn new.
I was thinking I should wait until next week, because I'm sure they haven't had many applicants yet, but I don't want them to look at anyone else!!

It's mine damnit!!!! Lol.

No i don't think they don't want you they are probably just idiots then if they don't even call u in for an interview. I guess you should give them a call and see what happens. Maybe the first time they ran their ad they didn't get that many applicants and they want a bigger pool to choose from. Or maybe they did hire someone immediately and that didn't work out. Maybe the newspaper made an error and ran the ad again??? I don't know it could be many things. I would just give them a call. If you want it go for it.

This is only me.

I was a royal pain in the ass to get my job at the hospital. I applied. Called 2 days later, she said she was looking over 75 applicants!!! I thought oh shit. So i called the next day, i told her i am a team player, meet my meetings and really needed to work, needed a job.

In your situation, I think a follow-up email or letter would be best before placing a phone call. I used to work in HR and I know the recruiting/hiring team despised it when people kept calling.

I called, they said they are still gathering applications (hence the repost I guess) but will be calling everyone. *fingers crossed*

HK, now is the PURRFECT time for you to send a follow up letter just thanking them for considering your app & taking the time to interview you. Also reinforce WHY you wish to work there and what you can bring to the table. Just a quick, 3-4 paragraph letter.
