When did you start the diet? Best time to weigh yourself is in the morning - first thing - empty stomach - empty bladder, etc. You said you're exercising like crazy - you could be gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. Unless my workout is purely aerobic, the next day I'm usually a little bloated - your muscles kinda retain water but this usually goes away in a day or so. I'd go by how you look and feel - and ya never know...bloating (either from a hard workout or all the veggies) could attribute to the scale gain.

    Good luck!

What kind of veggies are you eating? The starchy ones, like potatoes and beans, can actaully make you retain water. Go for lots of green leafy things, a few in the red-orange-yellow spectrum, and very few starchy veggies. Also, remember to limit fruit; it ahs a lot of sugar.

    Don't forget your protein sources!

Possibly your body is jsut getting used to processing all that fiber. ANd if you are normally a little dehydrated, all that water may jsut be getting you up tp yur normal amount of water you should have in your body.

Don't quit! You are doing a very good thing for yourself!

Yeah, starchy veggies aren't that good for you, if you are trying to lose weight. Definitely stay away from carrots, and potatoes.
    Good luck!

Are they just veggie's by themselves? or are you putting dressing on them? Alot of dressings can be very fattening so make you get a low fat dressing as well.

Could it be TOM for you? That always adds 4-6 pounds for me.

Are you also getting enough calories? If you've eaten too few, your metabolism may have slowed down to compensate.

Hmmm...I can tell you why you gained the weight!
Your body is not used to a drastic change in diet. So when you stopped eating the regular stuff you ate, and just switched to veggies and water, your body was missing all the other stuff. So, your body is actually stocking up on any leftover fat or carbs and holding it on, because it knows it will not get it anymore for a while.
Does this make sense? It is kind of a reversal effect: if you starve the body of something it needs, it will prepare itself by digesting food slower and less efficiently, to make up for what it wont get.
    Everything in moderation!!

Yup, I agree with Cianna. Plus you cannot stay on this diet forever and when you go off of it everything you eat will basically turn to fat! It's a survival mechanism our body uses unfortunately. They usually call this kind of diet a "crash diet" because you may have awesome results at first but always crash. I did this for a big chunck of my life and luckily it didn't screw up my metabolism too much.

I recommend good diet and exercise and I think most would as well. This extreme dieting is hard and may work but it's only temporary.

Anyone used or using Dr Phil's seven steps to weight loss book ? I'm only asking as from what I have heard about this book (and what he "teaches" in the book) from his show seems very sound indeed.

I personally do not need to loose weight. I just need to loose body fat now.

I also agree with the previous posts that your body has gone into a state of shock (as such) due to the drastic change in your diet. The diet you are doing right now won't work -- look to something more long term.

Everything in moderation even the "not so good for you" foods. Allow yourself a treat each week if you want.

You have to remember that whilst our "way of living" has changed and is a little bit more sedantry... our bodies are still the same from way back when we were in caves.. not much has changed.

This is absolutely true. I liearned about it in Physiology class. It is also true that too much crash dieting CAN mess up yur metabolism; it has happened to me.

Please try to find a sensible diet that has enough calories and all the food groups. When I forst stopped eating meat, my diet looked kind of like yours, and I made myself sick, sick, sick. I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome. SO please don't do that to yourself.

    Good luck.
