These kinds of lawyers and lawsuits are what is hurting the whole system. It's wrong and it's sad. But, of course, desperate people do desperate things.
Unbelievable.
I didn't read the whole thing. I've heard of other places in North or South Carolina and Arkansas where the locals have been very plaintiff-friendly.
The thing that bothered me early on is that the article said something about, "The litigation arena is divided into three areas," which is wrong, and the areas that they mentioned didn't come close to covering the litigation arena.

I believe that the context of the articles actually referred to three specific areas of legal practice which, because they can result in unbelievably huge award and settlement amounts, are the 'specialties' of the legal firms and courts in this town. The thing that bothered me early on is that the article said something about, "The litigation arena is divided into three areas," which is wrong, and the areas that they mentioned didn't come close to covering the litigation arena.
I believe that they are talking about the main Tort areas: Medical Malpractice, Class Action, and (forgot the last one).
Those lawsuits are the ones that rake in the big bucks because there is no "cap" on punitive damages, etc.
Pathetic.
