Well, you'll be able to see where the cowboys and '49ers (the original gold digging ones) (not the current football players and gold diggers) went to buy their t-shirts and cotton candy. Amazing the sense of history that brings.

Anyway there's a number of hotels that are close. There's a Holiday Inn right across the freeway (I-5). You can walk under the freeway to it. There's a couple off the next exit to the north (Richards Boulevard). You could walk to Old Sac from there, as well. They're probably cheaper.
What sort of stuff do you want to do? There's restaurants (cheap - ridiculous), a comedy club, brew pub(s), the rail museum. The Delta King is a permanently moored paddle wheel boat that is used as a hotel and restaurant. (The Delta Queen is on the Mississippi somewhere and I don't know what she's doing.)
There's a ziggurat across the river, which was the home of The Money Store before it went broke. I guess it’s a tribute to Sacramento's Aztec heritage. Probably can't do much there, but it’s an interesting eyesore.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
For a real experince try the Hogs Head (breath?) saloon in Old Town. It is down some stairs near Fats.
Been their twice and both were a real trip. If the LI bartender is there tell him the guys from Conn. who bought all the shirts say "hi"
We stayed at the Holiday Inn, not bad at all and within stumbling distance of the bars. Had a great dinner over near 4th street at a newer italain place next to the Wells Fargo bank.
Have fun

Holiday Inn is right next to the mall too. I suggest to see wine country in napa about 2.5 hours away. Theres not a whole lot there to do...there are many nice restaurants in old sac though. Fats I hear is good. Plenty of nice shops in old sac too. The river is nice in the summer.
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
that's your flaw
put down some roots so you can stand on your own
