Post the average workday/night of a dancer

So I've read probably hundreds of threads now, tell me if I have the basic run-down correct:

    1. Enter the club dressed in a stage outfit
    2. Pay DJ a fee of some kind and dance on stage for three or four songs, (equalling aprrox 12-13 mins). If you're good, people will come to your stage and tip you.
    3. Go back stage and change outfits/makeup
    4. Go out onto the floor and sell dances, which have a set price that the customer is aware of, i.e. $100/dance. (a portion of this you must pay a fee on?) If they refuse, move on and keep asking until you've asked every person in the club
    5. Get back on stage for another set?
    6. At the end of your shift, someone has kept track of all your activities (LDs, stage sets, etc) and you are asked to pay a fee on each?
    Am I somewhat right?

Pretty much, but a lot depends on the club. At my club we all must be there at least an hour before the club opens. In that time all of the girls do hair, makeup, and get dressed. You even have a little bit of practice time for new moves, pole tricks, etc. We have a list in the DJ booth that's our stage rotation. Each girls dances 2 songs then goes to change and work the floor until the next set. We only have to pay a 20 tip-out at the end of the night. The club keeps a portion of the dances we sell except for our 10 and 20 table dances.Every club doesn't work the same way, but I hope this kinda helps

Yes Reesexc is right it varies alot on the club...but this is what it was like for me:
Id go early shift about 40 min before (put on makeup, do hair, put on stage fit) then go out onto the floor and tell the DJ Im "checking in"...he then puts me on the list.
Club opens I do my stage rotation (day time there only 2 songs on one stage) go to the back freshen up then go out and sell some dances. There was no VIP there so thats it just reg dances. Then stage comes up again and repeat.
At the end of my shift I would pay house fee (free if I showed up on time $25 if not) tip the DJ 10% and get walked out.
Pretty much all the time the club keeps track of how many dances you do and what type (ie nude, table, VIP)
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
    that's your flaw

So I would suggest that you go into a SC at some point and spend some money and at least notice where your money goes, but in the meantime, here's my run down:

arrive at club in street clothes, base make-up on (sometimes)
take whatever you brought in to your dressing room, find a spot, claim it.
hit bar for a drink, pay dj or manager for house fee
    pick out music with dj
back to dressing room, get ready
dance on stage for first set, collect stage tips
hit up the guys who gave you stage tips, do lap/table/VIP dances
freshen up in dressing room as necessary
    repeat all night

    that'sa bout it.

These posts seem about right to me, too. At the club wehre I worked, we paid our house out of our first VIP dance, then paid for each additional VIP dance before it happed. I woudl seat the customer in the VIP area, tell him to pay me (so I can go settle with the front desk) and get comfortable, I woudl be right back. Thyen I woudl pay the desk, collect my cut, and go back in tome for the next song to start. All clubs are different in this respect.

Wait a minute...let me get this straight: You have to pay a fee to dance on stage??

That's odd, doesn't everyone GET paid from the club to dance on stage? Or is this what happens in the states?

Here in Spain its different. You don't have to pay to work, but you only get a 50% cut on everything, VIPs, lap dances, etc. Also, since we have euros here and no 1 euro bills, only coins, the custies can buy fake money when they come in (looks like american dollars, but is obviously fake) and at the end of the night the dancer can cash in all her fake 1 euro bills for real money. I haven't started working at my club yet so I dont know how it works with the payments, whether custies pay upfront for a dance, and if you have to pay the club their 50% straight away or not. I also don't know if I have to tip the DJ! Must ask the other dancers if they do...
If you're not confused, you're misinformed

Some clubs pay the girls... usually around 2 - dollars an hour like wait staff, or a flat fee per night. A lot of clubs expect a tip out. It's basically renting the stage and dressing room to us. We're independant contractors. No Paycheck, no taxes, etc. This is very common. A handful of clubs pay you AND want a tip out. But no, paying to work isnt uncommon at all in the States, I think it's the norm.

    Default paid or paying?

im from b.c., as far as i know the dancers get paid by the club. I believe out here...(cranbrook) the dancers get $50 or $75 a show. Does that sound right to you?
PAYING just to be allowed to work??? Thats soooo wrong!

In Toronto stage fees are something like this:

depending on the club, it's $20 - $60. For every stage show you do, they take out a portion of your fee. Sometimes it's $40 with no stage, or $30 with. OR: $40 with no stage, $20 with one show, $0 with two shows. OR: $20 with one show, $10 with as many shows as you want OR: $60 with no show, $10 off for each show you do.

Sometimes you can go on schedule and they pay you $50 - $65, and sometimes you still have to give the DJ $10-$25, even if you're on schedule.

Basically, I heard, in the west of Canada there are what we like to call "features" - they get paid a flat fee for every show, provided they are nice shows. In Toronto, though, there are sooooo many6 strippers that clibs don't need to hire and pay for good dancers because if you're not a good dancer you won't make any money anyways, and they know it. So you have to pay AND do a good show for the sake of you being a stripper.

By the way, Dollylocks, I don't think it's $100 per song.. I think Champagne room is $100-$400 per HOUR, or dances that are $10-$30 each, depending on the dance and the club.

As far as I know, Western Canada is the only place left in N.America where getting paid to be on stage is the norm. Elsewhere you would need to be a feature dancer, and in the US that often means that you have well-known porn credits, or another similar claim to fame.
In Vancouver the majority of girls are still paid to dance on stage and booked through agencies, etc., but you will see exceptions - the house girls at the Drake, the 5, Brandi's, Cecil, etc. are often paying the club for the opportunity to work there.
I've worked in both eastern and western canada, and while both systems have their advantages, they are so different, they are almost incomparable. While I have always preferred the paid stages, with the rate of clubs closing I wonder how long the system will remain - it's just not economically feasible for most clubs anymore.
