For maintaining a place like this!

after a weird turn of events I have found myself working as a dancer. And I have never felt so dumb about something. I haven't gotten very many straight answers.
    I've worked two days.
and learned more from reading this for 3 hours.

I do have a newbie question.

the owner/DJ/and another dancer in the club I'm working who have given me some information have let me know that I need to lose my "innocent look"
Maybe they mean for my safty?
Maybe their trying to say I won't sell?
They wouldn't really specify for me.

Tommorow will be my first day back to work since my first dance.
I was told I looked scared. I left the stage a little too soon, I forgot to get my tips, and when the dance was over I was a little weird about leaving the dressing room for a few seconds.
I do still want to try and make money doing this.
Any advice about how you guys got over your....

    newbieness?

Using the right music can help a lot. Try practicing at home with some favorite songs. Then when you are onstage you will feel more relaxed and comfortable, you'll dance better, it will feed back itself, and you'll do fine.

You also have to remember that for some people it is way harder at first, and after a little break everything will go easier. This happened to me the first night I DJed in a club, inspite of lots of previous experience running pooldecks during spring break, with as many as 2,000 guys getting riled up at whatever I said, lol...

The next night I worked evryone was coming up and going "wow, you sound great, man!"

I still suck at auditions, though the last one I did went pretty well.

As far as the "innocent look" goes, don't listen to those guys. Just don't look scared. Look like you are ready to learn, and that guy with the big fat wallet looks like he could teach you. Never mind that the guy is probably a rotten teacher, lol...

Your probably just a lil nervous have some tea before you start to work. Before work visualize yourself making a ton of cash that night. When you get up there SMILE and just move to the music; move slow untill you get comfy with moving faster. You know when to get off stage when the DJ starts talking. If you can see from your stage at the guys look at who is looking at you and who is tipping you; good start to hustling dances.
That young and innocent thing you do if it works for you stick with it dont worry about what the guy said; what does he know he doesnt get on stage? Good luck and stay positive.

Keep the "innocent" look. It's money.

You've been working for 2 days. You're just getting used to it. In a week or so, you won't feel scared, weird, or nervous. Give yourself time.

Remember: How many people have had a nightmare in which they are standing in front of a group, naked? We do this for a living and come to understand that it is not so scary. It becomes second nature and a lot of fun.

So I have a huge bruise on my right knee, a slash on my left ankle.

Because I thought I could walk in 7inch heals without any practice, let alone dance.
I'm not really making any money right now, but I've only danced 4 full nights.

Last night I've never felt so disheartend in my life. I sat with this guy for three hours...(mistake number one since I wasn't working the room)
He sat and asked me some of the dumbest questions, told me about his divorce, the obnoxious size of his brothers penis....I asked him if he'd like a couch dance..he said "later sure!"
Well, it's almost closing time, so I ask again. He says "later sure!"
I don't worry about...start talling my tips in my head and think about what I'll do better the next night...
    when....
THIS GIRL ugh asks him if he'd like one...and he says yes.
This same girl, keeps doing this with my customers, shes like some sort of leech. Some sort of strung out 12 year old looking leech.

I will be nice....I will be nice..
    But it's so hard....
    to be nice.

awww keep your chin up, it will get better!

And I found that vacuuming your house (or just doing chores) while in your stripper shoes was great practice.

don't allow her to do that... you can be sweet and nice but stern at the same time. Don't sit down with them more than 5 minutes.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Echoing what everyone said already, innocent is fine, but scared is bad.

And investing more than 5-10 minutes in a customer with no intention of spending is a bad idea. You're there to pay the rent, not socialize for free.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.
