Iron Maiden will only be on Ozzfest 05 til Aug 20 then they have to leave the tour to head over to Ireland and the U.k.
As of yet a replacement band is not announced

    Sabbath? Who's singing?

Would like to see Shadows Fall and BLS too...too bad there's no Slayer this time around.

Course, I'm really too old for live shows these days...

    I dunno.

I would hate to tarnish the memories from my teenage years of the real sabbath with what i have seen of Ozzy on MTV the last few years.

It cant be long before they wheel ozzy on the stage in a wheelchair like the pope at the last few easter parades.
    Can you say token?

I will give it an honest listen on cd,and play it at work if I must, but you will find me and mine at stage #2 watching Zombie with our teenagers.

The granpappy of metal is singing, or at least mumbling semi coherently....
I'm wicked disappointed by this years line-up...being the 10th anniversary I woulda thunk that the powers that be would bust out the lineup of all lineups...last years was better imo

My demon-spawn have already informed dear old dad(me) that we will be seeing arch enemy, killswitch engage and zombie on second stage and have threatened to never behave again if they miss BLS, Maiden or Sabbath....of course if rumours are true and Anthrax(with Belladonna and bush singing) replaces Maiden we will be headin to Texas also...so be forewarned!

I think he just doesn't really want to try as hard, 2nd stage is easier. Or perhaps he is springing something experimental? I sure hope its better than his movies......

hell, second stage has a better lineup then main stage!!

At least the preformers on second stage, when doing a stage dive, dont run as much a risk of breaking a hip as the old fuckers on main stage.

    That's messed up.

But maybe I'll be able to get a little closer... hehe...

No COF? No Slayer? That's sad. Or at least my bf will think so...

Blade!! Where ya wanna meet up!? I'm sure I'll be there. I just wish they realized how disgustingly hot it is in Phoenix in August.

So...who IS the "mystery band" on the mainstage?

I'll probably go, since my boss gets free tickets every year...but. eh. Black Sabbath. they're great and all, but how many years can i see the same basic set over and over again?

i also wonder if Zombie is gonna have anything new out by summertime. he's a wee bit overdue. and where's the remix cd from "the sinister urge", dammit? and yeah i agree, maybe 2nd stage frees him up from the whole over-the-top production stageshow thing and he can just play.

I saw ozzfest twice last year and loved it. I was working most of the time (i say work but it consisted of passing out condoms to concert goers) so it was free and fucking fun! Second stage was awesome last year but jesus, it was hot!! I've never seen so many kids trying to look cool in all black (pants and long sleeves) when it's about 100 degrees outside. Fuck being "dark"....be comfortable!! I even saw one person wearing leather.

Anthrax w Joey Belladonna back on vocals.

Here is a link about it: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...wsitemID=31908

But I heard about it through the Metal Dave grapevine in Austin and his gossip is usually pretty solid..........

If I understand correctly Anthrax is doing a split set with Belladonna and Bush, mostly to promote The Greater Of Two Evils disk which features Bush redoing the vocals on classic Belladonna/Turbin material....I could be wrong, but......

It's cool too because Iron Maiden is playing songs from only their first three albums. {their best stuff in my opinion} Velvet Revolver is the confirmed replacement for the rest of the shows Maiden won't be playing.

No Slayer~BOOooo...!!!~Rob Zombie, now that's cool~But I would love to see AIC and some of the boys from Damage Plan there. And where's Megadeath or Metallica?Black Sabbath is great I seen them a few times but would rather see ozzy play with his band.I never seen them yet~ Ozzy still sings well and seems to move around okay!it's like he comes alive on stage sorta like Bob Marley~

Shit, ozzfest gets worse every year. Where are the good bands like Napalm Death, Fear Factory, Slayer, SOAD, COC, etc?

    tiamaria:
Metallica has absolutely no reason to do a tour like ozzfest. Ozzfest is more for bands that can't fill those venues on their own so they do the tour more for exposure than money. Megadeth would be a good candidate for Ozzfest though...

I forgot about the Anthrax/Belladonna thing. That worries me. Those guys are so wishy washy that I wouldn't be surprised if they dumped John Bush for Primadonna. Bush is a much better vocalist so that would be a big mistake.

I agree...why the hell is Zombie on the second stage? He's one of the best ones! I went to Ozzfest in 2002 and Rob Zombie was on the main stage. They had a great lineup for Ozzfest back then. They had Ozzy (of course), Rob Zombie, P.O.D., System of a Down, Drowning Pool, and Black Label Society on the main stage. On the second stage they had some cool bands too: Hatebreed, Mushroomhead, Seether, Ill Nino, and some more that I can't remember. I don't even recognize most of the bands that are there this year, LOL.
