Default Bikini lasering = no waxing or sun!!! :(

I am getting my bikini lasered and now I can't wax and just have to shave so I get all those little bumps until I get it done. Plus I can't get any sun so that makes it look worse and then the treatments are 10 weeks apart for 5 to 8 treatments so I guess that basically means I have to miss the whole summer on the beach unless I wear shorts and then get some strange tan lines. I hope it's worth it!

Ewww that sucks. No tanning at all? Maybe you can use a sunless tanner.

I'd suggest sunless tanner, and Bikini Zone for razor bumps. Keep us posted on the lasering results!

I'm doing the same thing -- I just keep thinking about how great it's going to be when my bikini line is a beautiful hair and bump free zone with no daily maintenance.
The reason for no tanning is that the laser in attracted to melanin (the dark pigment) whether it be in the skin or the hair. That's why light skinned people with dark hair are the ideal candidates. If you simply must be tan (which I totally sympathize with) I'd recommend using self-tanner but discontinuing applying it to your bikini line a week prior to your session so the color has ample time to fade. If your bikini line is too tan (basically any color) the best case scenario is that the tech will have to turn the laser intensity down which will necessitate more sessions = more $; worst case scenario is very nasty burns and permanent scarring -- eeew!
    Good luck!

I think I'll just deal with not being tan or maybe just try to get some sun on my arms at least in a tank top so I don't feel like a ghost this summer. I asked them if I could use sunless tanner and it seemed like it would be okay but I'd have to stop at a certain point before each treatment and it got too confusing for me to try to figure out. I really hope it works well. I am pretty pale and have dark course hair so I think I'm a very good candidate for it. I'm getting a brazilian bikini done and I can't imagine not having to shave that anymore.

That sounds like a commitment, but so worth it when it's all done!

It's sooo worth it! I'm surprised to read that you STILL get razor bumps though. I used to get bad razor burn before I had my bikini line lasered and I was able to shave right after the appointment and it was gone!

Don't mess with the tanning. You definitely run a risk of burning and scarring. The sunless tanner then wait a week to let it fade advice was excellent.

I haven't had my first treatment yet so maybe once I start I won't get bumps. I have to pay half the money up front when I book the appointment so I haven't made it yet since I don't have all the money for a week or two. The cost for the brazilian bikini is $1200 plus I am getting the $30 numbing cream. They have a total body package for $7700 which is tempting (can't imaging never shaving my legs again!!!) but I'll see how the bikini goes before doing other spots. They also give you a greatly discounted rate for the rest of your life if you have any regrowth, like $1 per inch or something.

on the pain scale 1 to 10 of course 10 being like your leg got ripped off, how much does it hurt to laser "brazilian bikini" area?

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

i am going to go to a place here in the Midwest.
    Advanced Laser (chain)

    they quoted me
Extended Binkini $1440 for 5 treatments + 1 year guarantee
Full Legs $755.82 for 5 treatments + 1 year guarantee
they also have 2 year guarantees
    @$1763
    &$925

what the guarantees mean is you get the treatment (5 of them and after that you get as many as you need the following year)

I was going to have them do the majority of the Bikini at full intensity and then around my shaved line just have them turn the machine down.

The guy said it wasn't as intense as a tatoo, i don't know for sure though.

how quickly did you shed the hair??

would anyone let me know if it is wise to go with the 2 year guarantee
or if 1 year of treatments after the initial year of 5 treatments or more should be fine?

Im doing my legs and bikini here in chicago. Its kinda expensive and really painfull. I've had 4 leg treatments and one brazillian so far. You have to buy the numbing cream otherwise you'll run out screaming in pain. it feels like a really hard rubber band snap over and over and over. I think it cost something like 2400 for my legs and 1200 for bikini. if you buy it as a package they zap you for free for life if it grows backs. it takes about 6-8 (8-10 weeks apart) treatments for the hair to be gone forever. But yay! no shaving after that!

I just had my lasering done for the first time and it wasn't that bad. They were slow on getting my prescription for numbing cream so I did it without it. It really wasn't any worse than waxing in my opinion and it was over very quickly. Hopefully the results will be good!
