    Default Los Vegas srtipper permits?

A girl told me that if you are a stipper in Los Vegas you have to get a permit. Is that at all true? Cause I've been really thinking about visiting down there and seeing how it is. I'm thinking about going to school there and of course moving. But one step at a time, visit. So if I need a permit where can I go to acceve this permit?

Yes,it's true. You need a sheriff's card and a separate business license to dance in Las Vegas.

This is the exact same info Im looking for..and I posted about the Las Vegas move and Ive already visited the southern nevada community college and found out how to transfer everything out there etc..I talked with a counselor..I really wish someone would help us out on this info..as far as waitressing/dancer jobs and how long of a timeframe we're looking at to getting employed...and which job would be the fastest to get into

Amarantha-Lorelei, why do you want to move to Vegas? It will be a total struggle making consistent money dancing there. There are waaaay too many dancers which manytimes outnumber the customers and it is hit and miss getting hired there.

It will be worse than where you are now.

There is plenty of info on SW regarding getting your Sheriffs card and Business license if you do a search at the bottom of this page.

Coming to LV is the BIGGEST mistake and if you are not 21 you CANNOT dance in the clubs with alcohol.

If you are tired of where you live there are other alternatives. You can dance at 19 in Arizona, and Tucson has a good university and decent volume clubs that require no licensing. It would be easier for you to make money there.

Shift_6x, Vegas is a hassle. Find towns with less dancer competition if you want to seriously keep your head above water.

NONE of the veteran dancers want anything to do with Vegas. It's not like it was in the 90's.

Why are you newbies not heeding our advice?

Perfectly put Tina....I second everything you said. I guess some will have to learn these life lessons the hard way. Newbies still get fed mass amounts of BS about the "false" riches in Las Vegas.

Everytime I see a new post about someone heading there I just shake my head and say "geez there goes another one".....What can ya do.... I really wish they'd listen and seriously read all we experienced ones have to say.

I appreciate your words of wisdom. The thing is Im not moving to Vegas to make big $$ Im moving there to be near the one I love..So Im just trying to figure out if I should go the route of waitressing in a casino or club , or if I should go straight for the dancing..

I dont want to fail. I dont want to fall flat on my face and Im not expecting to make loads of money. But I have to go for something..I have to try...so therefore..do I have a better chance of surving shooting for waitressing or should I go for the dancing route.

Are there other places within 100 miles or so where there is less competition? Maybe AZ ?? I dont know Im from the east coast..the midatlantic region. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There aren't any real clubs with in 250 miles of Vegas. I work in Vegas, but I would NEVER move there. The money isn't consistant enough. If you don't get hired at a top club your going to suffer even more. AND the competition is outrageous.

I know you want to live close to your honey but the stats don't lie about Vegas...I had a cab driver tell me once that they have over 10,000 people move to Vegas every month, and they have 5,000 people move out every month.

If you really want to live there move to Henderson, Green Vallley, or well outside of the strip. All I can say is that I have friends that live there and the only reason they can afford to live and work there is because they have very regular customers that spend buckets of money on them. And they hustle their butts off and work often, 5-6 nights a week.

    Default Los Vegas

I really do appreciate what advice your giving me. I guess you are right about Los Vegas. I really don't want to go up there and find out I can't dance and I cant get money. Personally I'd rather find out the easy way rather than the hard way. What citites are good places to dance at (safe good people ect..) I can dance there at 20.

I guess with the whole Los Vegas thing i thought there would be a lot of money in dancing out there. But I guess like me about 99% of the population think that. So thats probably why it sucks to dance out there.
Thank you so very much for the information about Vegas. I guess its better that I assumed that it was going to be great and asked you guys about it rater than find out the hard way.

is the money there really not that great? a girl that i worked with say she flies out there on the weekend and in that time makes $thousands. then she flies back home and spends her week concentrating on school. she's not the barbie type - light brown hair, small boobs - like jennifer aniston. is there money there or not?

I don't understand girls saying there is no money in Vegas. I was just out there in late February on vacation with a male friend of mine. I went to Spearmint Rhino and Club Paradise and both clubs were packed, and this was on a Monday! In fact, we had a hard time getting dances because the girls at both clubs were so busy. Granted, I've never danced in Vegas myself and I'm sure the summer is much slower, but the dancers seemed to be doing extremely well while I was there. I didn't see any dancers sitting around doing nothing, which happens a lot here in Wisconsin.

in all seriousness if I make $200 a night then I should be good cause I'd be living in the dorms at my school. At my club right now I work Tues (two dollar tues) Wed (wet tee shirt weds.) Fri. and Sat. Now on Tues I normally make about $75-$80 Wed I make about the same Friday and Sat I make about $150-$200. You may think that that is not that much but for southern IL where money is scarce Im guessing that it is I wish that I made more that that a night though. But I really think that I should be listening to the girls that did go to vegas and came back because there wasnt anything. By the time I do get to move for school I will most likely be 21. Ill go out there to just visit to see for myself BUT I am keeping the replies from this on the top of my head. Like how there are "false Riches" and lots of competition. So Im definatly going to think twice. like i said before Its better to hear the truth from girls that have been there then find out the hard way for myself and be stuck in debt with no where to turn to.

If this were the case then I'd still be living there making all this money that just supposedly falls in your lap as a dancer there. Not to insult anyone, but anyone who tells you these stories are full of crap. Can it happen, yes, how often, really freaking rare. No one consistently makes thousands in one weekend for giving just lapdances.

Was there a convention town? February is one of the busiest months. Going to a club for a few hours on a Monday during busy season tells you nothing. I'm from WI myself originally. I lived in Vegas for 3 years dancing full time. There is more money consistently in some clubs in WI. On a regular basis in Las Vegas the dancers outnumber the customers sometimes by 2 to 1. We're talking 300 or more dancers running around one club on a Friday or Saturday night. That's just one club, there are several big clubs, do the math on a Sat. night there are literally thousands of dancers all trying to make money within a few miles of each other. It's insane sometimes. With the number of clubs in Vegas, and the number of girls dancing there are not enough customers to support the industry there anymore. Dancing in Vegas is exactly how another girl put it, it's like gambling.....one night you might make $500...the next 3 or 4 nights $0...it can happen. Alot of it is luck and meeting the right tourist with money to spend. It's as risky as gambling. Making money in Vegas is not a sure thing anymore.

If you are under 21 you can only dance in the nude clubs....the money is even worse dancing all nude in Vegas. It's a waste of time. The nude clubs get less customers and alot of the nude clubs take a bigger cut of your money. In my 3 years there you don't even wanna know how many girls I met who came there thinking they'd make easy money only to be dissappointed and go home, or for some they fell into prostitution fast cause they needed money. Vegas can be a nice place, but it's not a place to make alot of money just giving lap dances like it was in the 1990's. It's not like that anymore. You can make some cash, but you have to work hard for what you make.
Sorry if it all comes across as blunt or harsh, but I lived the experience there.

Vegas was tough money. I only made easy cash on my first night, right in the middle of CES convention. After that, it was feast or famine. I did really well cumulatively because we don't have VIP time-based pricing in Texas, like the $200 for half-hour, and I was able to sell the hell out of those.....WHEN there were ppl in the clubs.

The other dancers were merciless and mercenary, which kept me on my feet. A weaker and less experienced dancer might not have been able to handle being shoved away by packs of bitches, but I can blow that off. They also didn't let me stay for nighshift at Spearmint Rhino. After working in about 16 clubs, that's the first time I was EVER turned away, as there were 115 girls already in at 9pm on a tuesday.....with more marching in like ants....

As far as permits, do a search in this section, Tina has a great thread with everything you need to know. If you are going to be doing the permits all in one day, get their by 8am AND drive your own car. It cost me $80 in cabfare to do all the paperwork as the 2 offices are across town from one another.........
