Default Customers say I'm "too wholesome"...

Alright, this is getting annoying. Almost every customer I talk to tells me I'm too pretty/sweet/innocent/wholesome to be a stripper.
Customer: Why are you doing this? You're too pretty. You should be a model or something...
Me: This entire club is filled with beautiful girls..and I don't have the right look for modeling..
Customer: No, you are REALLY beautiful. You should work in Vegas at the Paradise Club, or be in magazines. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

Yeah, it's nice to hear that, but it's also depressing and annoying. Do customers say things like this to EVERY DANCER?

Yep. Or, "You are too smart for this. Why don't you go back to eaching school?" in my case.

A: tell ya what, the more dances you get from me tonight, the closer I'll be to quitting and being able to realize my full potential. Until that day, I need to survive. How 'bouts you let me sit on your lap and you can tell me how wonderful I am for a few hours in the VIP room.

    schmucks.

Club Paradise in Vegas has THE hottest girls I've ever seen. That's a big compliment, you should be proud. They are telling you that because for whatever reason they think its going to get them brownie points, or "cookie" points. You'll get used to it.

For some reason, guys think that implicitly demeaning your occupation is a compliment to you.

    I don't get it, either.

Ha, yeah, and aside from modelling not 1 of them has been able to answer, "What do you suggest I do then?" (-:

Wholesome is good baby. Remember find your niche and capitalize on it!

I just mentioned this to my husband. He says, "Some guys are just cheap bastards. They think if they make up a creative answere, the girls worn't really realize how chep they are."

Well, that's one explanation! Makes perect sense to me!

    Colleen,

That makes sense because the guy who told me I was too wholesome was a cheap bastard who was getting on my nerves. He had scammed a dancer earlier that night. "you're not ready for this - I don't want to see you in this club ever again" STFU.

Well you will hear it all. They will say "what is a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this."

"You should be a model, look at you, you are stunning."

AND get this...i even got, "oh strip clubs are the place all the women who wanted to be models got shot down."

Seriously you will hear so much shit, you start to hate them. I got the "too pretty/smart" shit alot.

Guys will (some) say anything to make you feel great in hopes os wanting more out of you. At least that is what i got out of the guys who said all this.

I often wondered why they are in the club! Lol..

My warped thinking now that i am out. I guess i see alot of different sides now.

I had this problem, too. The whole - too pretty, too smart, too good, etc. Funny thing is I heard the same guys telling some of the girls that weren't that cute or smart (and were pretty mean!) the same thing.

Shannon - get used to it and work it as your niche. I had guys coming in getting dancing from me and asking me for investment advice and about my consulting work.

I also did taxes for about half the girls in my club on year.

Yes, they do. I hear it a lot too. My favorites are when they don't believe you about certain things: "Not all modeling is million dollar contracts in Hawaii, there's a lot of time and money invested for not always good returns."
    custy: "Nah-uh!!"

My favorite was when these two guys were talking to me, and one of them was like "you should be a model!" and his friend says "lapdances are still $30, bud." and the first looked all hurt. LOL.

Iacali, sometimes I say something like "yeah, so why don't we go get a dance and you can contribute to my education fund?" sometimes it works, sometimes not.

One thing, though, is I've been doing a bit to look a little less wholesome - do my make-up a little more glam, my hair a little more made-up [of course fliping out during pole-tricks or lapdances messes that up, but I make an effort], maybe be a little more forward with customers - and I'm not hearing it as much.

To me it just sounds like a variation of the old "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?" pick-up line.

Some guys never get past that and some never seem to have anything to say to a woman that isn't along that line of thinking.

    As an analogy:

An aquaintance of mine was doing some work in one of the local retirement communities, when he heard what he said he thought was probably the most commonly used pick-up line in the place. An older gentleman leaned over the fence and said to the lady on the other side: "You look like you're too young to live here."

Another variation of the same thing, you see. The concept and the line know no constraints as to space and time.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
