I was wondering if it's possible to be a stripper and not have to have any physical contact with customers - even during lap dances. I live in NYC, so I was wondering what the norm is around here.

it's possible
I'm not sure about NYC, but I know out here the totally nude clubs are very strict no contact. You can also demand no contact in a club that allows it.

Really? I had no idea that as a stripper you could demand no contact. When I get hired, would I tell the manager that I want no contact, or do I tell each customer before a lap dance?
sure you can! You can do anything you want as long as the management is okay with it
so ask the manager and then you can let the guys know. Now, this will definitely hurt your money because there are girls doing stuff you aren't, but you could pull it off.
Perhaps somewhere else, but you won't make any money doing no contact in Texas. Even in NYC, where the dances are no contact on the main floor, the VIP is contact, and that is how one makes serious money.
Why bother going through all of the social disgrace of being a stripper without at least profiting from it?

No club would ever (legally) insist that you provide contact during a private dance, and many clubs would be very thrilled to have a girl that they don't constantly have to be keeping their eye on.
If you totally want to aviod contact with the customer, you might look into a peep show type of place where the girls dance behind glass. Then the guys know right up front that there is no chance of contact.

Katrine,
My main reason for wanting to avoid contact is that I'm afraid of a customer trying to grope/finger me. I've also been reading a lot of posts about customers ejaculating on dancers, which is something I'd like to avoid at all costs.
Since I'm completely new I feel like it would be difficult (at first) to avoid these kinds of situations so for now I'd feel more comfartable if I knew there would be no chance of them happening.

Paris, I have thought about peep shows as opposed to strip clubs. I would like to find out more info about them, though - like how much money I could expect to make, etc. any suggestions as to where I could get more info?

100% no contact? No. NYC has some sligtly different laws than the rest of NY state. NY state says no contact but... not every club goes with the rules. Likewise with NYC. I've worked at so-called No Contact clubs... some do, some dont. But even if you find a club that follows the laws and their own rules, you will have the occasional customer who will try to grab our touch or hug you. Sure, the bouncer may get the guy offa you quickly, but the contact occured. So it's possible to have 95% no contact, but thats the best I've ever seen.

HEH, a highly doubt a guy could just ejaculate on you at will. And as far as fingering/groping goes, it does happen, but it isnt a normal occurance. Once you start dancing and feeling more comfortable with everything, you will worry less. I have never been fingered, nor has anyone tried to, but I have been groped before. But hey, if you dont like the guy pulling the crap, have him thrown out. Simple as that.
After reading what you wrote, perhaps you can offer some contact (like putting your chest on his, but stay away from his pelvic region. Guys can come from it, but it's only going to happen from some kind of stimulation....and it won't matter anyway if you aren't touching that region.
As for guys trying to figure/fondle you....unfortunately they will try that no matter what. You are deal with drunk and horny guys with a sense of entitlement because they are holding that holy dollar.
Just a thought, have you checked into doing the WebCam thing? If you are interested, I think there's some info in the "Other Work" section.
Dancing is wonderful training for girls, it's the first way you learn to guess what a man is going to do before he does it. ~Christopher Morley, Kitty Foyle
I work in Atlanta and *technically* all contact is illegal. Granted, many of the girls break this rule (which doesn't matter to me, to each their own), but I am not one of them. I charge $20 a dance and get it up front. I then perform a table dance and if they don't like it, too bad. I am not willing to break the law or my personal boundaries for this job. I rarely have any problem with this. Very occasionally someone complains and I explain to them that contact is illegal and if they say something about another girl doing it, I tell them to go buy a dance from her. I find if you are confident and state your position in a no nonsense way, they will drop it.
I know things vary from club to club and state to state. I really encourage you to find a place you feel safe working and you can do your job without having to sacrifice too much of yourself.
