I'll give you what *I* do but YMMV.

First and foremost, you want whatever you have on your face to last so you aren't re-doing your makeup all night. That keeps you off the floor and not making money.

*I try to keep foundation minimal... I apply it lightly and buff it with a cotton ball. Natural looking but finished looks beautiful and dewey and glowy. Too much foundation looks icky and can make you look old. Plus it comes off... see above. I use liquid bronzer on my cheeks and blend well. Your best bet is to try to keep your face as clear and healthy as possible so your foundation and concealer needs are minimal. A good sunless tanner helps too.

*I use MAC on my eyes because it stays all night. I also love well done fake eyelashes. A lot of girls try for that Pam Anderson eye look. You can look on makeup411.com for the step by steps on that. For me, I keep all the makeup drama at my eyes.

    * for lips I just use a natural liner (matched to my lips) and a gloss that isn't too sticky. I carry it with me for quick touchups on the floor. Anything too sticky will catch your hair and stick it to your lips. Any thing too colored can get streaked across your face by your hair.

    Good Luck!!

If you're young and have good skin, then forget the makeup. Even if you have poor skin and are young forget the makeup.

I remember when I was young a friend telling me that without makeup a woman looks horrible. I was very surprised when his mother agreed. Another friend believed the same and he was so happy the first time I stayed the night so that I could see that his sister was nothing without makeup. His sister believed this as well as did her mom. Well, perhaps I'm just strange--But, she looked much hotter without the paint hiding her beautiful skin. At first she thought I was joking or just trying to score points. Well, if she looked ugly without the makeup I sure as heck wouldn't want to score points.

Seems sort of dreadful that a woman you're interested in has to hide her face.

I never really got the hang of the stripper makeup when I worked, partly because I hated having my face painted up. I did my makeup normally, but I made my eyeshadow darker. I didnt overdo it or anything. As someone said, you should wear darker makeup when you are working, because of the lights and because you are up on a stage. But I wouldnt use a whole lot.

This is a heavier style, but I started it years back and don't want to stop:
Light moisturizer first (some can protect your skin from the smoke/ dirt in the bar, like a Vitamin C cream) then liquid foundation or pancake stick/ powder. Even your face and neck out. When it dries, apply blush on the apples of your cheek (the pinching part, suck your cheeks in like you're doing fish lips) not too much. Do lips, as you like/ to match costume colors.
Eyes- line with a pencil, smokey-smudge style (quicker than liquid liner.) Use Q-Tip to correct. Eye Shadow- keep it light if your lips are dramatic. Vice versa if you have a bare/nude mouth. usually three shades of shadow work best: lightest on the browbone, darkest in the crease, and medium on the lid. Blend.
I don't use mascara, but if you want to, get the best one you can afford, because smeary or flaking mascara will ruin anyone's night.
Generally, less makeup is better. I get a kick out of matching some make-up colors to costumes, it makes everything fit together and some customers find it cute.

I have to disagree with Kyle on that one.. It's fine outside the club not to wear make up, but in the club it just looks like you don't care. You will stick out as one of the girls that doesn't try and that is NOT how you want to appear. Youth is great, but you can still bring it with make-up even if it is just the "natural" look.
I suggest you buy a book about Make up like one of Kevin Aucoin. They are about twenty bucks and he shoes all sorts of style of make-up and how to apply it. That's how I learned the best look for me. Plus, just watch how the other girls put on their own, this is the best way to learn. Play with the make-up to see what looks right to you and in no time you'll have mastered the tricks.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Well, it's a matter of taste and also neccessity. I had bad skin for a number of years so way before I danced I was hiding my breakouts with make-up.....
In the club though, there's a psychological boost from appearing way different than your natural look. Men generally expect the overdone porno star/ showgirl hair and make-up style. I got in trouble a few times for working with too much of a "girl next door" look. It's also dark in most clubs and you have to play up your features.
The fun-est reason I still do heavy make-up is a matter of pride- I worked in a place where most of the dancers had a trendy look (think JLo.) I grew up in California, around the "chola" Mexican girls with poufy curled hair, dark lipstick/ eyeliner, and femme style. I kept doing it 'cause it worked for me. (Imagine my delight when I went to Mexico and saw posters of a burlesque dancer with the same hair and make-up I did.)

YES, I probably in the extreme minority of those people who don't really care for makeup. The only women I think it really helps are some older women. And, I wonder if they would have needed makeup if then hadn't started using it in the first place. Also, I wonder if there is makeup that is actually good for your skin.

Of course, if you care about how you look I would think the vast majority of customers would give the thumbs down to tattoos. I've only seen a couple that I liked--one humorous and another of a giraffe and finally a very degrading one.

With those dances who are 8 or less the tattoos aren't very important. For me when it hurts is when the dancer is a superstar. Extreme beauty is so rare it is a crime to mar or cover it--in my eyes.

Dermablend! it's expensive but the container lasts forever! It wil cover anything...all night! You need to practice working w/ it before using it for work. I wouldn't recommend using it on you face because it is very thick. Put a small amount in hand, rub w/ finger to make it smooth then pat it on. I reccomend the powder it comes w/ because it sets the makeup. It will even cover tattoos! I think I used to get it from Yonkers. You can probably find it on line.

I love love love makeup, and hope to be a pro makeup artist one day, so here's what i've picked up along the way:

Base: Choose a foundation that matches your skin as closely as possible but with a very light consistency because you don't want to feel weighed down in makeup. I like Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse Foundation, it's as light as air and keeps your skin matte, not shiny or greasy looking. This next tip is more advanced but does wonders on your face: Use a concealer lighter than your skin tone and apply it under the eyes in semi-circles to cover bags and dark circles, as well as in the inner corner of each eye, next to the nose. Cover concealer with light powder to blend. Accentuate cheek bones by using a darker powder.

    Eyes
: To me, eye shadow isn't as important as eye liner and mascara. You can put several colors on your lids, but if your eyes look small (as they do without liner), it won't make a difference.
HOT: With black or brown liner, line eyes with a thin line of liquid eyeliner. (Pencil if you have a less steady hand) Extend the line a bit further out than your natural lash line and upward, creating a tapered end to make a cat eye. Line only two thirds of the lower lash. Using a dark shadow, accentuate the crease of your eye and blend a little shadow into the liner. Dab a little white shimmery powder (gold for darker skin) to the inner corner of your eye. To finish the look you can either apply long, lush fasle lashes or use an intensifying mascara to amp up your own lashes.
INNOCENT: For that wideyed look, line lashes with brown liner, smudging the line for a softer look. Like before, dab a highlighting powder to your inner eye. Then apply false lashes in a "doll" style. These look almost triangular and are very whimsical. Lastly, apply intesifying mascara to bottom lashes

Lips:HOT: You want a kissable, full pout, and this is one way to get it! With a lipliner that matches your lips' natural shade, trace your lips with a line that extends just barely beyond your actual lip line. Fill in your lips with the lip liner, because this will keep gloss in place. Then use a juicy, HIGH SHINE lip gloss on both lips. Sheer deliciousness...
SWEET AND SEXY: A look that's highly underestimated is the nude lip. Find a lipstick that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. It's very important that the lipstick be MATTE, that is no shine, or else the look will not have the same effect. To maintain moisture, use chapstick on lips first. Liberally apply the lipcolor to your lips, making sure to cover up all natural pinkness of your lips. Voila!

This is just what works for me though, find what looks best on you and I'm sure you'll look hot!

Kyle, yes there is makeup that's actually good for your skin. Covergirl makes a pressed powder that is made to help clear up pimples and blackheads and all their powders contain noxema in them. There's also lipsticks that moisturize your lips as well as adding color.

Dollylocks, I also love that trick with the extending eyeliner to form a cat's eye effect. My sister taught me that one years ago. Thanks for reminding me about it.

    Hi Sexyangel,

Thank you for the information. I have pretty poor skin although it could have been a lot worse. Perhaps that is the reason I generally don't like makeup on women. Anyway, it is good to know that some makeup is healthy for the skin.

    Hey there Playboychick,

This is fun reading everyone's different makeup styles. Looks like from your avatar that you're pretty young and hot, so I say you don't need much makeup. Check out the young girl next door types in Playboy, and you'll see what a lot of guys seem to like. If you don't need foundation, skip it. If you do, get some that matches your skin tone in a longlasting, transfer-proof formula, especially if you are doing hard contact lap dances, so the guys don't end up with makeup on their shirt collars. If you are prone to breakouts, get a pimple-fighting foundation. You can touch up shine with powder, but too much of that will clog your pores, so get some blotting papers, which are better since they don't leave a residue on your skin. Glossy lips look great, esp. a lipliner all over lips (not too dark) with a clear gloss on top - natural, but sexy. I also love fake lashes, but I use just the individual kind at the corners of my eyes - gives you a catlike look. If they happen to come off (hasn't happened yet to me, but it could), it will look a lot more natural than a whole strip of lashes coming loose and hanging off your eye. Hair down is great, guys love it, soft and not too much hair product making it sticky/hard. Highlights look great under black light, as do white teeth, if you have time to use a toothwhitening product. Keep perfume light or nonexistent, as guys don't want to go home to girlfriends or wives smelling like someone elses' perfume, or they could be allergic. Body oil rubbed into your skin makes it shine, but don't overdo it, and be careful to let it dry a bit before doing a lapdance for some guy. Also, make sure you aren't going to touch the pole on stage with oil-covered hands- a serious hazard for you and the other girls!

This is just my personal style, but vive la difference. Some girls rock a totally different style that really works for them and their customers. You can always ask guys when you're sitting with them what they think is hot in a girl's look or makeup....then you'll have an idea what the general consensus is, plus the customer will probably get turned on talking about what he likes.

    Just my two cents' worth.

I often do the winged effect with the eyeliner like the one dollylocks suggested. It's incredible for the eyes.

To enlarge small eyes, it is great to use white eyeliner on the lower rim of the eyes, placing more emphasis on the outer lower rim.

If you apply a thin film of vaseline to your eyelids before applying eyeshadow, it makes the powder stick a lot better and helps give it a sheen. Also place vaseline on the inner corners of your eyes and apply silver/white/bright coloured eye shadow there to give a truly gorgeous eye-catching effect. Don't forget to wash your make up brush afterwards or it'll stay gooey.

A few things I do which seem to work very well for me.

okay, here's my do for the evening, but keep in mind that I have pretty good skin so unless I'm doing an outside of the club party I skip the foundation (you can't control the lighting as well in the parties). I use pretty cheap stuff like wet 'n wild or Jordana, but that's just my preference. I know there's makeup out there that won't hurt your skin-- for example, for a show I was in we used this makeup made out of minerals...(?) that didn't get absorbed into your skin or bleed at all. As for brushes, you can find some really great inexpensive brushes at art stores, believe it or not. You can get a variety of shapes, sizes, and types of hair in the brushes that work great for makeup.

As for me, I curl my eyelashes w/o mascara first, and then use the clear kind (after that you can put the dark one on later, but I like that flecks don't fall into my eye). I put on a thick line of liquid eyeliner and a teeny line on the bottom (I lay the brush flat against the skin instead of at an angle), while I'm waiting for that to dry (don't worry about getting it perfect) I'll line my lips, do lipstick, and lipgloss.

After the eyeliner is done being a total bitch and marking up my lid from me blinking, I take a Q-tip, wet it, and wipe off the mistake blotches. If the line is too thick or asymetrical to the other eye, I'll gently smudge it done while rotating the Q-tip to pull the ink off.

I tend to favor Cirque du Soleil makeup so bear with me. I have a purple cream eyeshadow pen that I put on all over my lid, blend out near the eyebrow so it's not so heavy. Then I have a white one that I touch up to accent it. Then I'll use a pink one along the brow line and drag it out to my temples (but not all the way).
Also, on occasion, my lipstick doubles as my eyeshadow. It prevents powder falling into my eye, is easily applicaple, and since I favor pink lipstick with a little glimmer in it it works great.

Sounds odd, but it actually looks pretty good. The nice thing about the cheap stuff if you're not using it on the majority of your face (and therefore have to avoid the chance of a major breakout) is that you can play with it, and when you get tired of it you can buy some really colorful makeup without breaking the piggy bank.

p.s. I dig blue eyeliner and mascara too which probably makes me sound like a crack addict, but it gets so boring in the club with just tonal colors like black, white, and tan

    Thumbs up Re: stripper makeup

    Hi All,
Try Joe Blasco foundation. You can get it in a beauty supply or theatrical supply store. Alot of actors use it for the high amt. of pigment in the base. It comes in a round container like pancake type makeup, but isn't too heavy. Best of all it LASTS ALL NIGHT! If you can't find it locally, they have a website: http://www.joeblasco.com/blascoschoo...snew/index.htmShelby
