Default Home address Security and car insurance

As many of us, my driver’s license and car insurance is under a different address. IF something was to happen to my car our coverage can be affected no??

If a car is damaged or vandalized in Home property (doesn’t matter who’s home) car insurance will only cover the vehicle it’s self NOT stolen property. So if I was to have home insurance, then that’s just a big paper mess..

What does everyone do to protect these issues?

I'm kind of confused by your question but a lot of insurance companies will do whatever they can to get out of paying a claim. I've had my car hit while parked in the street and my insurance paid right away. I have State Farm and they are pretty good about paying claims. I don't see how homeowner's insurance could cover any damage to your vehicle but I could be wrong. Maybe if you parked it at someone else's house and it was their fault?

    Hey Bunny!

    What I mean is:
Car insurance address must be the same address as drivers license and license plate.
Listed as address A. When in actuality, I may reside in address B.
But say something happens is address B?

    * Car gets vandalized, window smashed, stolen items from car..
-Insurance will cover the window, scratches etc… NOT the stolen items.

My real concern thou is.. my insurance company thinks I live in address A.
So, what happens if they find out about B..??

How can we protect our selves from this?

I have a friend whose uncle is an insurance agent in Oregon. My friend's whole family who lives in Louisiana registers their cars at his address in Oregon because there is no sales tax to buy a car there and it's 9% in Louisiana. They are I'm sure insured in Oregon. I don't know if they've ever made a claim but he's an insurance agent. I've known a LOT of people to do this. I don't know what happens if you make a claim and a lot might depend on the insurance company. I would think if you haven't lived at address B for long you could say you moved?

My boyfriend is driving around with no insurance and a tag that expired July of 2004. God help him if he ever has anything happen cuz he's screwed!

I think you can get away with saying you were visiting address B. My insurance is under a different address, and the only problems I have is when they use the other address's home phone to reach me and I'm never there. But it's no big deal.

As far as not being covered for stolen items: duh! your insurance is for the car only, not items inside. I think if oyu want the items insure you have to photograph each one and record an estimated value, and somehow prove or undergo an investigation that they were really stolen.

My insurance is also ridiculous - 150% of my actual car payments! lol
