I am curious to see if there really is a connection on SW to who people voted for in the 2004 election and what position they take on the Schiavo case.
Voted for Bush and agree with the Courts on Schiavo case
Voted for Kerry and agree with the Courts on Schiavo case
Voted for Nader and agree with the Courts on Sciavo case
Voted for Bush and disagree with the Courts on Sciavo case
Voted for Kerry and disagree with the Courts on Schiavo case
Voted for Nader and disagree with the Courts on Schiavo case

I can't vote, because I voted for the Libertarian candidate instead of Bush, Kerry, or Nader.
But having voted Libertarian, you can probably guess what my feelings are on this matter.
Former SCJ now in rehab.
Can't really say either way. I disagree with the barring of certain evidence and I believe that the judge was (literally) blind and too biased in this case...but, I am glad that Terri Schiavo is finally resting in total peace. I never had a problem with "letting her go" but I DID have a problem with starving her for 2 weeks (or 12 days). No matter how "brain dead" you want to believe these people are, there is absolutely no way to know FOR SURE if they are feeling pain or not. It's just inhumane. We're allowed to euthanize pets if they are in pain...but not people who are terminally ill.
Blah...
We need a policy (or rather, one for each state since this is NOT a constitutionally outlined federal issue) on right to die. If Terri was to die, if anyone is to have their tube removed and be denied normal forms of nourishment, JUST PUT HER TO SLEEP. As the Netherlands Prime Minister (I think it was) said...his country gets alot wrong, but at least his people have decided the difference between "cruel" and "mercy"
Now, not everyone whose tube is pulled should die =- if they can live on regular food/water alone - LET THEM. I'm not stepping into each case to make that call. But rather than starvation, give us painless death.
Communities accross the US need to make these kinds of rules. And people need living wills. The one thing ANGEL TERRI has done is make this a popular topic for people.
