Tell that to all the boys that got assfucked by priests while the higher-ups looked the other way.

The Catholic Church is beyond hypocritical. Vow of poverty? Have any of you BEEN to the Vatican? Well, I have. The place is loaded with marble and gold plating and solid-gold statues are all over the place. If they melted all of that down and sold it they could feed a lot of starving kids that they claim to care so much about. The display of wealth there is obscene and ostentatious, to say the least.

The birth control things is obvious. No birth control = more Catholics! If you can't feed them, it's not the Church's problem, right! Abortion is a lot more polarized and I won't elaborate on that, but at least allow women to choose when they get pregnant, even within marriage, rather than telling women if they don't get knocked up every menstrual cycle that they're going straight to hell.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"

RIGHT ON. I find the Catholic religion just downright disgusting.

You could "melt down" Washington DC and distribute it to the world and that would provide short term relief. However, Washington DC would no longer exist and that would be a problem. Even Bill Gates could not even approach buying such a big institution should they want to liquidate it.

All Churches of any size want to "inspire" their flocks, as they call it. As a minimalist non-religious person, I fully agree that religious ostentation has a bad impact on individual reasonableness and rationale. But who said any religion is 100% rational? For that matter who said capitalism (another way of accumulating great wealth) is 100% rational?

I don't think the TOP "higherups" knew about the pedophilia as anywhere near so widespread. This was all a "good ole boy" club. And "good ole boys" don't tell. But to me if they had been circumspect about what they did know, as well as the rebelliousness of the American Catholic Church, I agree they should have looked into it. After all if it were true the consequences to the kids and the Church would have been severe. Look at the local Bishops to lay blame for poor supervision and corruption.

USA is only one country. If the Vatican would have purposefully looked the other way, this disaster would have not been limited to almost only one country. I think this is key to understanding the culpability of the Vatican.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
