    Default Mystic Tan

I recently made a post about tanning but after reading up on sunless.com, the site Emily mentioned (thanks ), about Mystic Tan it didn't seem as bad as I originally thought so I'm thinking about trying it out. How has that gone for those who have tried it? Does one session a week really make a difference?

    I love Mystic Tan.

It gets kinda pricey (here, it's $35 a session)...but, if you are light skinned, then you will probably only need to go once per week. Also, with the introduction of better OTC spray on tans, a lot of salons are lowering their prices. Right now, I just found a coupon for 3 mystic tans for $35. So, shop around...

    Happy (safe) tanning!!

I just did the Mystic Tan for the first time last week and loved it. It's $30 here, but worth it for the convenience alone. I did not streak, but was a little darker on my hands/feet/knees. The second time I put more barrier cream on these areas and it turned out perfect. I'm gong to develop an expensive habit with the Mystic....

I would do the Mystic Tan more often, but I just find the experience unpleasant. I know it lasts only a couple of minutes, but I hate the way it smells and it's so cold. I guess though, if regular tanning isn't feasible for you then the sacrifice is worth it.

did it once... I hated the smell also... plus I like to shower after I tan and with the mystic they say not to shower for 5-7 hrs according to their video. So walking around with this smell which is faint made me so sick.

I say try it once... either you'll like it or not... and it fades in a couple days.

I always liked it. They don't offer it in my new area though.

ah yes, the mystic. your best bet on prices would be to look around on the net at different salons and their rates. i found a package deal where it costs me $10 a session. had to buy a 20 session package though. but in the long run, thats a lot of money saved. except sometimes i have to go more than once a week.

but the look is great, and it's so much healthier, too.

my b/f's mom does it all the time and loves it. she looks great. but my experience has not been great.

the barrier cream is really hard to get a hang of, imo. also, once it has "set" it still rubs off on your clothing where you sweat. the smell does not go away for a few days. recently they changed the mystic tan formula to improve the smell, but now it doesn't get me nearly as dark.

i've resorted back to the orbitz tanning beds...

try it... you might have a better time than me... worst case, you can exfoliate it off in a few washes.

I love Mystic Tan. I've been using it once a week for over a year now. I use a level 2 in the winter and a level 3 in the summer. I've never had a problem with the smell, I actually do it on my way into the club and work that night. I use white musk body spray from The Body Shop to cover the starchy scent and Nivea dark tinted luminescent lotion to create a nice pearlized sheen. I just make sure I don't wear white or light colored clothes that shift, but the next day it doesn't rub off.

My tanning salon offers a $35/month deal. Not too shabby! Of course here in sunny AZ there is plenty of competition from Mother Nature to keep the rates low.

Question about mystic or other spray/airbrush tans- Is the color of it any different than most of the self tanners you buy at the store? I have tried the self tanner lotions and they are ok but I have light skin so I have to stick with the light/medium and I just wish I could find something a little bit darker w/out looking orange or too gold/yellow. When I used to get a real tan in the sun, I would get really dark brown but I just don't want to do that anymore. I wish they could come out with self tanners that would turn the skin tan or brown.

No mystic tan for me. Too expensive, too streaky and stinky. I use the $6.97 Coppertone Gradual Tan. The bottle last a while, and it beats paying for tanning beds and their damaging rays.

I just got 3 mystic tans for $33.00 @ South Beach Tan place, I used 1 so far. They sent me a postcard w/another 3/for 33.00. I think I might get the tan towels, tho, to supplement it.

I liked mystic tan soo much. However, I just tried loreal sublime bronze because of all the posts about it, and I've fallen in love. It looks more natural than mystic, even though mystic looked pretty natural too, it smells way better, and I can control it.

AS A FOLLOW UP TO MY PREVIOUS POST...
the new mystic juice smells much better than the older one did...

i didn't bathe for over 24 hours (just hanging out at home) and it didn't stink like the old stuff does.
not sure of what the name of the new blend is but, I was pleased.

I am so with you! I used mystic, twice before an audition for a club. Well, my audition date got pushed up and I was already out sixty something $$$, so I decided to try to extend it w/ moisturizing, going over w/ another tanning product.

It was a disaster When I was in the dressing room, which of course the lights are really bright, I could clearly see my tan flaking off...in big noticable areas. I looked like I had leprosy The stage lights were fairly bright, too.

That had to be the most embarrasing, nerve racking audition ever!!!

So, no more mystic for me.

What I was surprised about, how FAST it is now. I did not have to turn around, either, just raise arms up & down, like exercizing.

So I have stopped using tanning beds because all the older women I saw at the salon I go to look horrible! Thier faces all look llike leather. So that scared me enough to stop tanning.
I bought a month of unlimited mystic tans and have done it once so far. the color turned out really well and there was only a little streaking by my ankles.
And it does not smell like it did before when I used it a year ago. It has no smell at all now(the guy at the salon said that the instant bronzer makes it smell, there is a button that gives you the option of using it or not).

Anyhow, I have a question. Is it best to put mositurizer on before going? Last time I shaved, exfoliated then used lotion. Or should I be putting the lotion on after(the 6 hours you have to wait). I don't want my lotion to prevent me from absorbing all the color so I just want to be sure it's okay to apply it beforehand.

    Thanks
