I'm considering getting liposuction on my abs and flanks. For the ladies who have had this done, how long was it before you were able to get back to work? Thanks!

two weeks off from work should be enough...depends on the amount of swelling and bruising you have. you'll have to wear a compression garment for about 4-6 weeks, but a tight dress will suffice for work hours (after the initial two weeks)...then go back to the other thing. each person will differ though. PM me if you have any more questions and good luck!

Thanks so much! I was thinking I could wear the compression garment with a pretty waist cincher over it.Originally Posted by bloodydewdrop

it depends on the type of liposuction done also how much is taken out. 2-3 weeks should be good some people need 4-5 weeks. it also depends on how you are feeling physically and brusing.
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I'm supposed to be getting the Vaser method, where the fat is liquified and then removed. It's supposedly more gentle than traditional tumescent and Ultrasound Assisted Lipo. The swelling, bruising, etc. is supposedly less dramatic, too.
I'm willing to put my body through this because I have a major pooch (some girls ask me if I'm pregnant!). Before I was pregnant, I had potbelly tendencies because of genetics--everyone on my dad's side has one, even though they are pretty thin. My belly didn't stick out nearly as much, but I'd still suck it in. I've tried good dieting and I was at the gym all the time. After the baby, I went on a diet and rigorous exercise for a while, but the belly just didn't go away. I lost a little weight, about 5-10 pounds, but I have not been back to my weight of 106 lbs. I now weigh about 115 lbs., and I don't mind. I don't expect to lose weight with the surgery. I just want the belly to leave me alone.![]()
I have these stubborn little pockets of fat on my outer thighs that I might get lipo'd but I'm going to give it a year with my trainer before I decide to do it. He says it's just going to take a while since that's the first place my body wants to store fat and the last place it'll lose it. I've NEVER been able to lose it but then again I've never worked out as hard as I do now so we'll see. The compression garments I've seen weren't very attractive and I can't imagine wanting anyone to see it. I also think you'd be quite sore afterwards for a while but I guess it depends on the person.

how much is belly lipo on average?

depends on if it's just the belly or if it's the whole torso.

I was quoted $4500 for the upper/lower abdomen and love handles. I think it also depends on the technique used.Originally Posted by ReleaseTheBats

Are you still getting it done? Anyone else have any imput on how long they were "out?"
I'm consulting with a doctor next week about thigh lipo. I'm scared how much he's going to say it's going to cost! Hopefully I will only have to be off work for a few days but I'm not dancing so I can wear pants to work and cover everything up.

Yes, I'm still having it done. I plan on taking a month off--that should be sufficient enough. I am really looking forward to getting the fat out of my belly!
